Sound Through Vinyl?

I want to cover the rear sail panels with some type of vinyl does anyone think vinyl is bad or would it be ok? ...It's just i bought new sail panels prolly a year ago and they faded really really fast

It will block alot of the highs. Might want to perforate the vinyl where the speaker will play thru.

to punch many different (little) holes in the material to let the sound through.

webster says,

Has anyone done anything like this before ....I want to reapolster the sailpanels with the vinyl to match the carpet and have the speaker grills work too? has anyone done this or anything similar

um i guess you could use the speaker grills but you would have to cut the vinyl out at the edge of the speaker and tehn mount your speaker with the grill according to insttructions

well I was actually thinking on mounting the Grill right onto the sail panel board instead i think i'm going to have to cut the grill a tiny bit and use some small bolts to bolt it to the card board panel itself i'll show u guys how it turns out and You all can flame me on how it looks It's shouldn't look too bad tho I'm going to use vinyl too so it should look a lil better

do this instead.. cut the sail panel so the grill can go thru it and that'll look pretty awsome if you cut it welll enuff

Alright I did it tonight I just did one side but it came out pretty good so take a look ....oh I covered them in vinyl and found the speaker grills that came with my infinitys that with it a long time ago. but here are some starting pics....just a few showing what i did then the end product...any questions are appreciated

or what you could have done is taken some fiberglass resin and resined the **** out of that sail pannele then cut the hole the size of your speaker and moutn the whole speaker and grill to the sail pannel and cover it in what ever you wanted. this way you don't have a big gap behind the grill and speaker when you look through the grill.

I don't know what u mean by gap but the grill is much larger than the speaker...but i think i know what u mean cuz u can see the dynamat ...

if you mount the speaker to the sail panel tho i think it would vibrate........ alot
