I'm not sure that you're going to be able to find an in dash CD player that plays minidisks simply due to their smaller diameter. Since most dash CD players are now slot loading, it would be a nightmare for a company to try to design a slot that would work for both minidisks and normally sized CDs since the same slot would somehow have to center the disk in the player.
You might have some luck with a cd changer (5-10 disk trunk unit). I know my old mini system (in the home audio world) could play both minidisks and CDs. To do so, the 3 disk changer had a smaller ring in the middle for the mini disk to rest in (eject your computer’s cd rom and you will see a smaller ring in the center for a 1/2 sized cd). However, since most car CD changers are typically mounted on of their sides (ie vertically) they probably wont have a provision for a smaller disk since there would be no way to keep it in place and still be able to hold a full sized cd.
The problem isn’t dealing with the minidisk compression format; it’s designing something that will accept both CDs and minidisks. It also doesn’t help that minidisks were never that huge, so no one has any incentive to design something for them.
Your best bet is to get a head unit with an aux input or convert over to mp3's...

Ok, first are we talking about minidisks (Sony MD) or the smaller CDs?
If we're talking minidisks, there's not allot of support for them, even from Sony at this point. They HAD one HU that did both MDs and CDs, but not any more. I could try to find a model # and you could Ebay it. There was even a Pioneer 6 MD changer. Neat little bugger. Small as crap. But again, older model and there were not allot of them made. No one was buying them. You would need to Ebay it.
On the smaller CDs. MOST HU will load them just find, you'll need to check the owner's manual first to be sour. It's vary easy for the slot loaders to handle the smaller CDs. They got that figured out a long time ago. The vast majority will handle them no problem.
