Will 2004 Delco "Monsoon" CD/Mp3 player work in '91 car?

If I can get my hands on one will it work assuming it's DIN 1.5? On eBay there is one from a 2004 Sunfire for a good price but the ad says 99% of the time it won't work with a non-Monsoon system.

Is there anyway to get around this? I really don't like aftermarket decks just for the fact they look so crappy. I'm a stock appearance kinda guy, so I'm not going for all-out audio performance, but I do really want a GM MP3 player

if it physically fits it may work. you would do good to get the specs on it like speaker ohms and stuff like that. i think the monsoon systems had a factory amp or sumthin

I installed a 2002 monsoon CD player from a SS and it works great. I had to convert the plug (or lack there of) from my 87 to a new 20 pin plug but it works.

Looks to be a DIN2 size radio so it it'll be too tall for the opening in the dash. If you still want a Monsoon HU look for ones for an FBody '99 - '02. Unfortunately they won't have the MP3 in it. There is also a factory CD changer and long cable (for trunk mounting) available from GM for the '99 -'02 Monsoon's. There is also a GM harness available for them. As far as either one being able to play MP3's go to http://ls1.com in their Electronics, etc forum and look either under the FAQ's or do a search. There is a lot of info on the Monsoon's there.
I agree with panther that they work great, they'll thump the speakers (bass) pretty good even without the factory amp.
HTH.
Larry.
