Question on Sound Deadening Material
Question on Sound Deadening Material
I just wanted to know, would 120sq feet be enough to cover the entire interior of my car including roof (Hard Top)? And is the Raamat stuff really as good as the Dynamat (I'm not a guy with a competition stereo, I just want some good deadening)?
Oh! And also, will it keep down the heat around that Cat area in the passengers side? Just wondering
Thanks!

120sq ft should be enough. I have used ~150 and I have 2 and even 3 layers in some places on my Monte Carlo.
I haven't used Dynamat Xtreme firsthand, but there is no way it can be better than Raam60. Raam sticks like no other (don't let it touch ANYTHING but what you want it to stick to), its WAY WAY cheaper than Dynamat, has NO smell, and is pretty thick.
Also, if your wanting to quieten your cabin some (loud exhaust?) then go to www.foambymail.com I just ordered 100sq ft of 1/8" thick Volara (under closed cell foam, $60 shipped) and it helped reduce exhaust noise A LOT (headers, cat, 3" pipes and 2-chamber Flow's)

i've heard nothing but good things about raammat. if you need something a little more easily available, try peel and seal from home depot or lowes. about $1/ sq ft and works as good or better than some of the other sound deadeners. i covered the back half of the car with 25 sq ft, so 120 should be enough.
Neat
I think I'll be going with the Raamatt after hearing that. Oh, and that Volara stuff, should I put that on top of the Raamatt? Not quite sure what your doing with it or suggesting I do with it
But I'm all ears. The quiter, the better.
I appreciate your input guys!

Oh yeah, that peel and seal stuff, is it anywhere near as good as Raamatt? Cause If I'm gonna be spending the money, I might as well go with Raamatt if its gotta better results.

i have yet to do a side by side, but because peel and seal was a little easier for me to get, i got it instead. they are all pretty much similar, but i believe the raammat is thicker, so go with that.
Yes, put the Volara on top of the raamat (or whichever deadener you use). You will also need glue to put it down. Willwood glue (the one in the red container Flammable, non-flammable is JUNK) you can get it at Home Depot (gallon or quart).

Where can you get this Raammat stuff? I might be redoing the carpet in my car soon and I want to add some sound deadening material while I am at it.

Curious about the weight this stuff adds when doing the floor, cargo, and inner quarters. If you had to ballpark it, would you say fifty pounds, a hundred pounds, three hundred pounds....?
Thanks,
