Need Bose Stereo Info
I have an 88 Iroc with 29,000 miles on it with a Bose stereo system from the factory. It obviously hasn't been used much and all the speakers and wiring looks great. The car had an aftermarket Pioneer head unit in it when I bought it. The previous owner said the head unit started causing the fuse for the interior lighting to blow. I tried reconnecting the stereo and sure enough it blows fuses as soon as I turn it on. The fuse on the Pioneer doesn't blow just the one on the car itself. I'm not familiar with the bose stereo but the car already had the adapter box installed with the Pioneer head unit so the bose amps would work. I'm just wondering why this thing keeps blowing fuses and if anyone has any helpful info about putting a different head unit in it and getting all to work properly.

judging from past bose experience (im a car audio installer currently at circuit city), you need to rewire the whole car bypassing the factory amp. what fuses do you keep blowing? rewiring the car (wire the speakers directly to the radio) will solve a lot of problems especially w/ blowing speakers.

OK So I bought a new Kenwood CD player for my Iroc and I still have the same problem with blowing the fuse for the interior lighting. I think I'm just gonna say screw it and not even have a stereo unless someone has experience troubleshooting these goofy Bose stereos. If anyone can suggest a nice sounding exhaust system for my car let me know. I already had the Flowmaster American Thunder system on my last Iroc and I liked the way it sounded but I'm open to suggestions if theres anything out there thats louder. I gotta have something to listen to since I don't have a radio now.

definitely dimmer wire
that can cause some WEIRD problems...
my sister's stereo turns off when she turns on her headlights... very strange... some combination of illumination wire, accessory power, and ground...
no damage, it just turns off when you hit the headlights... turn 'em off, and the radio comes back on...
headlights, or parking lights.
