Pyle?

I went to the local flea market Sunday to buy some fleas. While there, I saw a box of subs. Two 12", IIRC, Pyle subs. Sign said rated at 500 watts a piece in a sealed box, from what I could tell. It was 100 bucks for the subs and box. I was wondering how good a brand name is Pyle? I'm not looking for subs that will crank out huge amounts of boomy bass, I just want clean and clear sq. I listen mainly to rock and some metal, so I was just wondering if these subs/box combo would work better then my current dual 12" Pyramid 120 watt subs in a ported box. THanks for any info you can shed on the subject!

Not that great jc whitney sells alot of pyle stuff if that tells you anything. I had 2 10's a long time ago and they worked but have had many many brands that were better.

It's one step above the bottom-of-the-barrel crap like Volfenhag and Pyramid.

Thanks very much guys. I figured it wasn't much better then my current Pyramid's I got for free, so I won't be buying them this sunday either. I guess I should stick to my original plan of a single Adire Koda 10 in a custom box. Thanks again!

From what I've found, if JC Whitney sells it, it's crap!

I wouldn't say all of their stuff is crap, but I probably wouldn't buy anything with moving parts.

We actually did a 3 10" pyle sub setup in my buddy's Neon. The subs said 400watts peak but the RMS rating was about 100watts. SO!! we hooked them up to a 600 watt RMS monoblock amp and ran them at 1 ohm stable. Amp held together nicely and the subs sounded good...however it didnt take long to smoke the voice coils on them. For the 45 minutes they pounded we were impressed. It was worth the 99 cents per sub that we paid for on ebay.

I kinda want to just try some lightning audio subs and see how much gain on my amp it takes to rip the cone surface apart...
