ive unscrewed the little hanger at the top and i was told that the panel will slide up to come off. But i dont see how it will come off with the seat belt piece still attached to it.

Any help appreciated

it should just come off. just push it up, then pull it out. the seat belt is just a piece of plastic to cover up the slit made so the seat belts can be there, the seat belt piece stays in there, and the speaker panel just slides off.........

What part are you talking about, the sail panel cover or the entire plastic assembly? The seatbelt is nowhere near the sail panel cover. For the sail panel cover, you unscrew the coat hook, then lift the cover up, and it'll come right out. For the entire plastic piece that surrounds the seatbelt, removal is a bit more involved. Yank the back seat, remove the trim piece between the headliner and hatch, and remove the sill plate. Once that crap is off, there's 1 or 2 screws holding the panel in place.

im talking about the cloth panel with that little coat-hanger hook in it. To the left and right of the back seat. My front seat belt is attached right in the middle of that panel, thats how i cant understand how it would just slide off, because there a bolt going through the middle of it.

Is this not stock? Maybe it was modified when it was converted to RHD for Australia.

Ill get a picture of it in the morning.

It's got to be modified, though I can't imagine why. The stock seat belt attaches to the car above that panel, above the headliner in fact.

mines definetly not that high, the seatbelt is attached right underneath that coathanger hook.

Its going to be a bitch to remove as i dont see an easy way to access the bolt.

Ive also noticed that it makes it a lot harder to get into the backseats, because the attachment is so low you have to really dunk under the seat belt to get in.

Dont know why they changed it, im going to look into it though.

Wow. Do you even have speakers there then? Where you describe where the seat belt is attached is right were the speaker sits behind that panel.

I'm interested in this setup also.

Geez.... I wasn't even gonna open this, till I saw it had seven responses... For a sec I thought you must have been mistaken, but someone screwed up your setup! How does the seatbelt fit, it sounds like it wouldn't even be over your shoulder.... Wow....

I'm also interested if you even have rear speakers, do you? Hmm.. You ever wonder what impulsed someone to do something to a car, but you kno you'll never find out.. I find that alot...

Can you take pics?

sorry about the high res but this is the new hole they put in my sail panel:
http://www.defpony.com/DSCI0023.JPG

Its covered up by the seatbelt clip but thats where it is. It goes above the speaker so yes the speaker is still there.

Did you say the seatbelt clip is originally in the headliner? I cant find any trace of an old hole so they must of put a new headliner in.

I can get the clip off without much difficulty so its turns out to be not a big problem, just a bit of a mystery.
