What do I need to do the install with
Just picked up a pioneer headunit and want to install it ASAP because im tired of hearing my mufflers. what all do i need to pick up from walmart to complete the installation and what type of specific model of the part I need so i can get it right the first time would be nice i know i need a conector but other than that i have no idea what type connector or other part I need.
hey
Yeah Im having a similiar issue I just oreered a Panasoic head unit and Im just as new at this as you are. First of all I think we are going to need a bracket to accomidate for the oversize factory radio... check this out http://www.cardomain.com/item/SCOGM1516B?vq_id=none its a bracket for our cars by Scosche or something. Connection wise Im pretty clueless and will just have to see it when I get it and maybe read the dreded manual.

ya all you need is a wiring harness and the dash kit. Easy. I mean unless your wires were all cut then it might be a pain but still pretty simple.
yellow is usually power
red is usually ignition
black is ground
orange is Dimmer=useless since it rarely works with stereos.
Thats the most common wire configuration in GM cars.

I believe its the GM01 by Scosche thats that works for all years of the thirdgens except 92 I guess and you can find a install kit for like 10 bucks. I use the Metra Kit or something like that, it came out good. You can make it sit flush or come out more.

http://www.walmart.com/catalog/produ...duct_id=870830 says 73-91 but the DIN should be 1.5
and heres the metra install kit. you should be able to find it cheaper from somewhere else but its just to give you an idea what youre looking for http://www.circuitcity.com/ccd/produ...cfkmdffhdfif.0

ya it should be 1 and a half unless someone installed a new dash. These pieces should be easy to find. Usually says GM with the names of cars/years.
