Anyone with a double DIN head unit?

I was out browsing this past weekend and checked out a couple of double DIN head units that I'd like to put into my Formula if it's possible without completely butchering the radio pod. They're an Eclipse and a Kenwood excelon piece that have video screens instead of radio faceplates. I already have a few ideas for a new trim piece but how much work would need to be done to get the unit to sit correctly in the pod? Post any pics if you've got them.

3rd gens will require a bit of modification to install a double din radio. GM's size is din and a half.

I'll start by asking "Why do you want a double din radio?"

Typically, the only reason double dins were used was because someone wanted cd and tape in their dash. I would reccomend an alpine single din radio with time alignment. With the time alignment properly tuned, your stereo can have AMAZING clear, crisp sound.

The reason is that it is a cd/dvd player with touch screen similar to what some of the new luxury cars come with. Plus it would look cool if it could be pulled off.

yeah those setups are nice, anything can be pulled off, if you have the time and attention to detail

Not to hijack the thread, but um, I'm gonna hijack the thread for a minute.

Jim, what shop do you work at in Albany? I'm in the pittsfield area, and there's NOTHING here. One of these days I need to stroll over to Albany and waste a day at some of the audio shops.
