Baffle Board
This may be a stupid question,but does anyone use a baffle board any more?I'm wanting to make use of 2 12" Eartquakes that I have,but I've been way outa the audio loop for a long time.I can't have an actual sub box in the "well" because that's where my battery and NOS bottle are.The baffle board is ideal for tis reason,and I could remove it for dragstrip outings,any quickly shedded weight is a good thing.Any suggestions are welcomed.I'd also welcome suggestions as to the rest of my audio upgrades,as of now I have the stock setup,and the only amp I want to add is for the subs(weight again).

Baffle boards are generally frowned upon but they're not completely disgorged if that's what you want.
Is your car a drag car or a driver as well? If it's a driver and not a serious drag car I sugest moving the bottle/battery behind the plastic trim and then putting a box in the well.

It's more of a weekend toy and dragstrip car than anything,but I've got my weight placed pretty well right like I want it.what are the downsides of a baffle board?

theres no air to enclose the sub, its gonna shake the board, your suppose to have a box or enclosure of some type. Either make a sub box for the back seat which wont sound much better. Or move your battery. The baffle board will sound like crap

Okay,thanx guys.Probably just do without subs,as I can't really live with the added weight of sub box ,and my little boy isn't willing to give up his back seat either

A 'baffle board' in the sense we are talking is actually desigend to seperate the front wave of the woofer from the back wave, thus eliminating cancellation.
They aren't the BEST way to handle the situation, but they could be fine in a race car environment, where as you are more concerned with speed than volume of sound.

Why not buy one of those sunwoofer boxes that has the amp built in (like the Bazooka bass tubes). I won a Pioneer unit years ago with an 8"woofer and it was about 5 inches thick and about 2' x 4' long. You could simply run the wires back there and disconnect it when you don't need it.
I remember this one friend amazed at how much bass my 6x9's put out and I smiled.

A single 10" sub in a sealed enclosure will take up less space, sound better, get louder, and WEIGH LESS than a pair of 12s on a baffle board.

Thanx everybody,I'm probably just going to go sub free.I never liked the sound of Bazooka tubes,(actually,never have heard a powered sub I did like).What does everone think of fabricating enclosures in the stock 6x9 location for a set of 8s?I can handle the fab work no problem,but do you all think I could work in the air space and mounting depth?

I considered doing that but the conclusion is the bass will rattle the hell out of the car and sound bad. There is alot of airspace behind those subs but not too much mounting depth.
