well box vs behind the seat
i realize most of you have well boxes so maybe this is a stupid question, but i've never heard a well box in an fbody, other than my plate that i had in my camaro for 2 12w3's, and my 2 10w3's that i had behind the seat, sealed, facing backwards hit a good deal harder than the 12's. im guessing a properly sealed well box, facing straight up will play louder and sound better than a regular sealed box behind the seats, facing the rear?

Yes, the farther to the back (or front for that matter) that the subs are, the better the sound will be. The center of the car is the worst spot. If you do a search you'll find a very long thread where we got knee deep in the physics behind it.

does it make any difference whether they're facing straight up or angled forward?

It wouldn't make a huge difference, but it would matter to the hardcore. In theory you want to have your woofers as close to the end of your car as possible and facing them away from the rear will space them away slightly.
I personally don’t think angling the subs will have that huge of an impact. The next box I build will have them firing toward the driver/passenger for aesthetic reasons.

I had them facing towards me in my T/A with my sonys in a sealed box in the well. Sounded good. I think your problem was...U had a plate....plates dont have airspace to use. The air is free to escape. Loosing precious bass...And lets face it free air isnt the way to go anyway.

yeah i know that lol. wasnt comparing that to what an actual sealed box would sound like, was just saying that was my only experience, so i didnt really know which would sound better, behind the seat or in the well.

The direction they are facing will only have an impact due to the source of the soundwave being closer to or farther from the back of the car. If you were to put the woofer in a location where you could rotate it without changing its acoustic center, you wouldn't hear a difference.
