Anyone heard of Clif Designs?
After waiting forever for my original deal on 3 pioneer 256dvcs for a custom install, I decided to call up sonicelectronix.com and see what the deal was. He couldn't get them for a while so he said that he had deal for me. I wasn't to enthused since I already bought my amps. He got me 3 Clif Designs CD109W which were listed at 155 for 55 bucks. I was really hesitant but saw the 5 yr warranty and listened to the guy explain about what the company compares to, Boston Acoustics, and decided that I would try them at such a price deal. I hope I am happy. By the way they will be paired up with 3 Infinity Reference 310A amps.

sorry, but when I hear someone say something like visionik, pyle, suny, I think of low-quality Wal-Mart stuff... maybe it's just me...
also, you have to realize that he still sold you those subs for OVER their cost... which means those subs are CHEAP! wow...
anything that's $50 I doubt compares to boston... sorry

Well, I did have two Alpine Typer R 12s and because I always want to play and am listening to more rock and less rap, I decided to do 3 10s. Well, I did finish the install about 1 hour ago. This was in my Taurus by the way. The install looks freakin' sweet but I was hoping for more from these subs. They are tight as hell. They soudned awesome when I was tuning them to the new White Stripes cd but then I popped in some rap and they soudned horrible. In reallity, I should have stuck with the Type Rs but these are ok. Definitely not something that I would pay big bucks for. I am glad that I got them for the price that they were otherwise i never would have gotten them. As long as I listen to rock they rock, otherwise not so hot.

Well, after some more tuning and run time they are amazing. I am actually starting to like these more and more. I built the box to hold a little less than the required space. After my research I decided to go with 1 cubic ft per chamber. I did that to "tighten" up the sound. But, after letting them run a little, they are amazing. My friend popped in the ying yang twins (?) cd and it pounded. I would recomend these, for the price. They turned out to be very decent.

Yet another update. After a 5 hour drive to visit the family for the weekend all I can say is wow! There must have been a break in period for these subs because they slam. definitely better than my 2 type rs. I ususally listen to the stereo on level15-20 on my pioneer hu and now i have to listen to it no higher than 15. they pound. i am starting to recommend these now. i believe i got a good deal.

I'll believe you had them tuned wrong... but not the break-in part... I've never heard of subs that sound that much different from when you first hook them up, to several years later...
does the surround material feel any softer than it did at first?

There are plenty of speakers out there that need a good break in. You have two choices: crank it and stay out of the room/car for a while or let them wear in. Wearing in can take a while as you said. Breaking/burning in can take as little as a few hours.
