If you are looking for better highs up front, I would recommend getting a set of component speakers and getting a set of kick panel pods. I would then get an amplifier to drive those speakers. If you got a four channel amp, you could use two channels to run the fronts and the other two to drive a sub.

If you get a component set that is half way decent, you will probably have an adjustable tweeter level. The reason that I recommend components is because if you just add tweeters, you will most likely be disappointed in the resulting sound quality. Adding tweeters and mounting them at dash height will draw your ear to the closest tweeter (drivers side) and seem like you cannot hear the passenger side (this will get annoying). The better speaker location is in the kick because the distance between left and right is much more balanced, but if you just put a tweeter down there, there will be too much distance between the midrange in the dash and tweeter, which will not sound good.

If you havent swapped out the factory head unit yet, make that a priority. Get a deck that is inherently brighter sounding like an Alpine.

If you are on a budget and dont want to do an amp and components, just make sure that you have a good head unit and get some speakers that naturally have more treble, like Infinity Reference or otherwise something with an aluminum tweeter.

If you are only going to add the tweeters, I guess that I would place them in the far corners of the dash (corner of dashboard, windshield, and A piller). Make sure than when you hook them up that you connect them correctly (pos to pos, etc...) or it will sound probably worse. When tying into the factory wiring up front, the lighter color of the two wires going to the speaker is positive. On the back speakers, the dark color is positive.

Hopefully that helps.
