currently im running an off brand amp with little known specs
i was looking more into this amp http://www.crutchfield.com/S-2Pt3pTh...i=575P5002#Tab
to push two 10" dvc 4 ohms
Electrical Q Value -Qes: 0.39
Mechanical Q Value -Qms: 4.37
Total Speaker Q Value -Qts: 0.36
Free Air Resonance -Fs: 21.5 Hz
Equivalent Compliance -Vas: 75.6 liters
One-Way, Linear Excursion -Xmax: 12 mm
Efficiency - SPL 1W/1m: 84.7 dB SPL
Effective Piston Area -Sd: 322 cm^2
DC Resistance -Re: 3.2 ohm per coil
Nominal Impedance -Znom: Dual 4 ohm
Thermal Power Handling -Pe: 175 W
Force Factor -Bl: 15.4
would the amp be a safe and good choice or is there another way. also these are wired in parralel atm. on a 400w 4channel 4ohm amp. running both on an individual channel

I'm guessing you would be running the amp bridged for 500 x 1 @ 4 ohms? That would give each sub around 250 or so watts to play with. According to your specs you listed that should be plenty but you can get that kind of power for much less $$ if you want to.
What subs are you running?

Which line of subs? RE makes a pretty good range of products.

i have 2 12's in the tire well w/ a 600 x 1 amp and it enough

That amp can only go 4 ohm mono, which is fine if you are going to run the subs in stereo. You can not bridge 2 4ohm subs to that amp because that will change the impedance of the speakers to a 2 ohm load, which the amp can not handle.
In other words, with that amp you would be running 2 channels at 4 ohm, which would be around 125w per sub. You wouldn't get the full potential of the amp unless your subs have 2 ohm impedance.

Not true. You can bridge two 4 ohm DVC subs to 4 ohms. I think you missed the dual voice coil part Originally posted by jimp2001

The amp would be running @ 4 ohms bridged doing 500 x 1 mono or 250 per sub.

The re's from re thats weird saying basically there base line they where freebies from the owner of re so im not complaining Originally posted by Gummie

You mean cheaper? Check out Elemental Design's NINe.2x. It puts out 600 watts x 1 @ 4 ohms at 12.5 volts, meaning it should do a bit more at 14.4. I'm running that amp on my comps and don't have a single complaint. Dollar/quality ratio is crazy. The only way to really come close to it is to buy used/refurbished stuff.Originally posted by red88fmroula

should i becarefull on overpowering these? i know its far worse to underpower subs.

It's never bad to underpower a speaker. The problem arises when you push the amp too far trying to make it louder and the amp starts to clip the signal. That's what kills woofers.Originally posted by red88fmroula

Too much power you can always turn the gain down
