kickpanels, did I get screwed?
So I bought a set of q-form kickpanels from a member on this site loaded with 'new' four year old mids and tweets already installed.. thats fine, I took that chance. Appently none of this stuff was used before.
However when I went to install them into my car I found a problem. As you can see in the image the stock kick panel wraps around making a complete "U" shape to hug over the metal lip where they get installed. The q-form ones do not do that.. therefore there is nothing to hold them in the vehicle
Are all the q-forms like this.. or did I get a demo/hacked/wrong application pair?
So.. anyone want to buy some 'new' never installed q-form kickpanels and speakers? lol!

There’s no picture so I can't comment for sure. This is what it should look like (picture stolen from another user, found it by searching but I'm hosting it now so it's all good
)

There's that ghetto box thing that you run a screw through on the end. That's one of the complaints about them (poor design) other than bad color matching, cheap construction, hard to fit certain speakers, etc.

Jim’s moving? I guess that explains why I haven’t seen much of him lately.

Nah, you haven't seen much of me lately because I've gotten busier at my day job, and my "night job" (selling carpet, door panels, headliners, etc) combined with too many kick panel and sub enclosure projects has kept me too busy to spend a lot of time on the board. With any luck, I'll be finished up with my last set of kicks and sub enclosure this weekend, then I can start other projects that got pushed off.
I haven't moved yet, but we did just buy a house, and we're in the process of re-negotiating our purchase because of some issues that surfaced in the home inspection. Provided everything goes well, our closing will be June 30. So... once I'm done with this round of kicks, I'm taking a hiatus until I get settled into the new place. In the meantime I'll be spending a lot of time packing and moving, so I can't take on any more kick projects until late summer or early fall. The good news is that once I get moved in, I'll have a workshop and a large garage to do these projects in, so I won't have to be at the mercy of my basement and all of the environmental conditions that effect it.
Anyway... back to the subject at hand. If you call Q-Logic, I would think they should be able to sell you the mounting widgets that you need to hold those things into the car.

I've always got too much on my plate, which is why it's been nearly a year since I decided to start my custom component project, and still haven't finished it.

looks like u guys have a strip of material that goes along the edge of the kickpanel and along the seam (in the top pictures it is easy to spot, it is black) I don't have that either... grr.. so, any idea where I can get something like that?

actually, that's just the weatherstipping...stuff that was on the car. My Q-logics aren't a very good fit to be honest...(you can't really see it from that angle but it's slightly bent out where you see the black stuff)
It's supposed to fit over that. :P
