What are the best 6x9's????
I GOT ROBBED!!! there went the HU and 6x9s. I had a pair of pioneers in the back and i'll be honest, they weren't that great. Ive heard a lot of great things about Kicker, Polk, and Eclipse. ANY SUGGESTIONS?!?! Any price range, i'll take anything, Thanks a lot

The best is whatever your ears like the most. Hit some stores and listen to them. What one person thinks the best, isn't for everyone when it comes to speakers.

Karps TA makes a good point what sounds good to one may not to soneone else.Personally I like Kenwood speakers too.I have a pair of 6X9 in my '83 that are gracing thier 5th vehicle.I don't remember the model number but they are close to 20 years old and still sound great.

The best 6x9 speakers I ever had were my Infinity Kappa series I had first in my '87, then swapped to my '94. I sold them with the '94 without thinking and wish I hadnt. Fairly pricey but worth it in my opinion. Ive been leaning toward Rockford or Kicker myself though as I like the sound they have in the showrooms...though you should know that the "speaker wall" at a audio shop will never give you an accurate idea of what the same speakers will sound like in your car. A lot depends on area the speaker sits in, total area/volume of the car youre putting them in, and power your feeding them compared to what the audio store is on their wall...

One thing I will give GM is installing the speaker enclosures in the "B" pillar/sail panel. They do make a difference in how even the factory Delco speakers sound. One thing I found is a good coaxial 6X9 gives better response than a triaxial of equal specs,at least to me.And I definitly agree with Creeping on the demonstration areas stereo shops have set up for speakers/head units.
It's funny Iron Duke that i have the same combo of speakers you do.My 20 year old kenwood 6X9's and Pioneer 4x6's in the dash(these I've had for awhile too). The head unit is the factory AM-stereo/FM-stereo/5 band EQ/cassette that i bought off Ebay for $5(and bought a similar one from Lady in Red to clean up the cosmetics). All sounds great but i need to tune/trim the antenna.

Axle/Gears: huh?? guessing stock.
hmm... Have you thought about just making a board to cover the 6 X 9 hole so you can mount a set of 6.5 rounds? I find that 6.5's give better bass response, or if you want more bass you could go with 7's or even 8's.
I personally have a set of Alpine type R 6.5 components in the back in place of the 6 X 9. but thats just cause I had them lying spare here, and dont really like 6 X 9's.
