Yesterday my system was sound fine it was hitting hard on my way to work and my lunch break. But when I was leaving work I had no bass at all. I have 2 1100W 10'' sonys hooked up to a 4X3 channel 600W sony amp The speakers were wired up to the rear input with nothing happening I swiched it to the front input on the amp nothing still. But I pu them back on the rear with nothing but it hit just one bass note through the subs then went dead again. Is it blown? BTW I just found out that the person who wired it up never put a fuse for the amp!!!

All of the fuses are fine I was able to find a fuse in the power wire its good too. Tommorrw Im gonna wire my old amp in to see if it is the speakers or the amp. If its the speakers Ill prolly upgrade to the sony 12''s in Summit does N E 1 know if they are good speakers? thanx for all the help.

Check the wiring. Yeah, if you hook up another amp and it doesn't work either you most likely have a wiring issue. You said you got a new battery... you sure your power wire is hooked back up properly and making a good connection?

As far as sony subs I have heard nothing but bad stuff about them. Theres alot better for the price they cost IMHO. I seriously doubt its the speakers though.

Is it staying power on or shutting off? Most of the Sony have protect lights on them, is yours lighting up?

I never saw a power light on the amp. This morning I put my old amp in but all that it did was barley play for about 10sec then died again.

sounds like a short on the speaker wires... maybe they came off inside the box, or are touching elsewhere...

is the amp lighting up at all, or does it lose complete power after it 'dies?'

check the remote wire with a voltmeter

id say it has to be either remote wire or speaker wire. check both at the amp with a voltmeter like was said b4.

OK now this is plain weird I was told that speakers play better when they are fireing down so I flipped the plate that the speakers are upsidedown and they started working. But Ive been thinkin about taking the 10''s and sinking them down in the botton of the wellhave them fireing up then get 2 12'' P5 xplods fireing down with the 12''s hooked up to a 1200 watt amp the 12''s should fit becuase they need 2.3 cu ft to work properly and the top half of the well is roughly 3.7 cu ft. Would it be better to run just 1 of the 10''s? I am looking for LOUD clear bass. thanx for all the help.

I love being right... sounds like the wires were shorting inside the box

The speakers were on a plate not a box I ordered my box last night.

well then I still say that somehow the speaker wires were crossing... it usually causes an amp to go into protect mode

Yep my magic 8-ball still says u have wiring issues.

As far as the box size, how would you manage 3.7 cu ft.? I have been planning my box for a while now and most custom fit boxes for our cars are 2-2.5 cu ft. on the inside. I am trying to squeeze 3 ft back there so I am not sure your 3.7 cu. ft. is correct. If it is let me know what your plans are because that could help me alot. Make sure you factor in that the wood is going to subtact .75 inches in each direction so make sure you take off 1.5 inches from each direction in your calculation. If your going ported also remember to factor in the displacement of the ports and any normal firing speakers.

ok just found a 3.8 cu ft. box that uses the plan I was intending to use. Disregard that entire section.
