Looks really nice, thats a great deal. I bet it will sound good.
Only problem I can see with it is: Made of 5/8" MDF
Most would suggest 3/4" especially on this size of box but it should be alright. You may want to consider adding bracers if there arent any but being the odd shape it may not need them.

If you look through the speaker holes you can see the bracers. And I dont think with my speakers it will matter too much that it is 5/8 instaed of 3/4.
All the other third gen boxes were like $200

Yeah dont get me wrong I think it will work fine. I'm actually considering getting one myself instead of building one.
oh my god i cant believe that they sell these things for so much. I live in california and i theres a bunch of places that sell these boxes for about 60 BUX (brand new) i dont know but 90 dollars doesnt seen like a good deal to me. i got my box for 50 from a warehouse where i buy all my car audio.
heres a pic of my box with 2 twelves.

There are tons of the cheap ones on ebay that end up being 50-60 with shipping, but they are all too small. Most of those arent even 2 cubic feet total, but this company sells a 3.2 and a 3.8 cubic foot box. Thats a big difference and well worth the price. If you look through the boxes that site has the small ones for cheap too.
If you can get the big ones for so cheap then your lucky since theres nothing like that available in the midwest or online.

Gotta love the double post.
Anyway those guys have great customer support. I gave them a call and was actually talking to a real human in less than a minute and he was really helpful. Let us know how it goes with your box kingdaddy305.

I don't see how they're getting 1.92 cubes per side. My boxes are a lot bigger than that and I only get about 1.5 cubes per side.
The other issue I see is the bracing issue. I see what looks like a little extra bracing in the corners, but that's probably because the 5/8" MDF is weak at the joints, but I don't see anything that indicates that there is any bracing along the span of the wood where you'll get the most resonance.
These seem like nice boxes for a low budget, low powered system, but there is absolutely a difference between those and what you get from a hand built box made by a shop that knows what they're doing.
It looks like a nice box for the money, but then again, Kias are good cars for the money, but still aren't that nice when compared to anything else.

Well, they do have a divider in the center anyway... not sure if that is really enough support though. The box in the picture is actually the 3.2 cubic foot one which makes sense since it angles a bit adding a little more volume than yours Jim. I dont know what the 1.9 will look like and I cant figure out where they make up the extra volume. The smaller MDF adds a bit, and maybe the top extends up a bit more into the hatch area... No idea. Anyway I plan to get one and modify it to be a single sub ported box anyway so I'll be bracing it and calculating the actual volume after the bracing and ports, so I guess I'll find out. Regardless, It saves me about 3/4 of the work and probably will look better than my 1st box build would.

with were my amp is I dont really use the hatch for my t tops. I usually either leave them at my house or fold down my back seat and flip the bag that way.

I made my own box calculated for 2.2 cubic feet per sub and the bottom of the box is flat across from one side of the trunk sitting on the little ledge to the other side on the little ledge. The top of the box comes up even with the lip of the plastic interior piece at the back of the trunk. That extra box that they attached to the bottom of the main box is where they make up the extra airspace to get near 3 cubic feet. I wish I had different subs though cuz mine require so much airspace that it's ridiculous! I just bought an '89 vert so my '92 T-Top 25th is now a project car. Can anyone say rear seat delete/custom fiberglass amp rack and sub enclosure?

Can you still use your hatch visor thing with that sub box in there? That was going to be one of my main thief deterrants.

Looks sweeet. And unless you build boxes regularly, building a box like that is a pain in the a$$.
For $90 plus shipping, thats a decent deal. I was thinking of going in that direction, but being a carpentar, buying a wooden box just didn't sit well

So the box came in last night. It looks nice and is bigger than I thought it would be. I test fitteded it last night and it would go down all the way but Im having a stereo installer I know put it in this weekend when he wires up my components. It might have to be trimmed a little bit but it is still strong even though it is only 5/8'' MDF. It looks like I will still be able to use my vent shade with the box.

I don't know how your pull-out cover works but mine has 2 slits cut into the plastic attached to the hatch so when it opens the shade goes up with it... plenty of space to have the box and the cover at the same time. I DO plan on building the fiberglass enclosure myself, not having someone do it for me. I want to learn how to fiberglass from a friend who has been doing custom car audio setups like that in the past... it'll be good practice for when I make a custom fiberglass dash for my car.

I put the box in today and it makes a bigger difference than I though was possible. It had my cd player and my whole dash vibrating. The only down side is that it seems that they designed the box with none of the trim panels in the hatch. For an easy fix I just took out the rear panel that cover the hatch motor and it fit perfectly.

Thanks for the pics. Those are pretty good quality for a phone. Yeah that thing is pretty big. I would hate to have to take out the trim piece like that bit I'll see what I can figure out once I get mine I guess. Maybe I can just leave the security flap pulled back as long as it doesnt make noise. Anyway I've decided to order it but I'm going to wait a couple weeks.

Yea people think it is funny when I say that I got the sonys until they hear them. These are 10's and the hit like crazy. my system was cheap too box-$90 amp-$100 speakers-$130 for the pair. I cant see out of my rearview mirror when I crank it up.

yea i have felt the wrath of those sonys and i thought my L5 12" could keep up with my friends 2 12" explodes and its not even a contest his just are nuts. and my plastic piece in back there doesnt rattle at all my only rattle is the gaurd thing behind my rear bumper hitting the bumper itself. other than that all i hear shaking it everything around me. and watch your rear view mirror you might want to tighten the screw on the bottom cause a week ago mine slid UP yes UP and off

I had Rockford F Punch Z's and then I switched over to the 12" Sony Explodes from Wal-Mart...just 1 of those things hit harder and louder than one or both of those Rockfords ever did. Good subs. I don't think i'd order that subenclosure if I can't keep my trim panels in there. Although it does look good in your car. I've been trying to come up with some Stealth boxes so I can keep my system out of sight and not lose room in the back. How much different are the 4th gens than the 3rd gens back there??
