Deck problems in my 89 iroc

Ok i need help! I took out the deck that the previous owner had in my car and turns out this guy didn't wire anything properly, he didn't use a wiring harnes he just cut off the old ones and conected the wires and taped them together. i have no clue what wire i should put from my new deck to what wires in the car. Oh and i thought i would tell you this, i have been blowing my interior accesories fuse on a daily basis and i can't figure out why. Today it went off when the stereo was off but i still think it could have been the stereo becuase this guy left a couple wires unconected just flopping around.

Can anyone help me?

Mitch

Your previous owner was not a very good electrician.......just taping wires together is for kids.........you are blowing fuses becuse one or more hot wires are touching ground ( bare metal) under the dash....you could either study the wiring instructions that came with your new radio, or maybe have a stereo installation shop striaghten it out for you. If you want to fix it yourself you will need a test light to see which wires have power and also you might want to get a factory manual with the wiring diagrams to see what's what........if you have never done any wiring on your own and you don't have anyone to help you through it, you may be better off just letting shop help you get it right.........good luck.....

It shouldn't be that hard to fix assuming that it is the stereo par of the circuit that's causing the short (and thus blowing the fuse). Simply solder & heat shrink (or electrical tape) the connections between the car and deck. Once you're sure nothing can possibly come undone and ground out you've eliminated the radio as the culprit.

Here's what the factory wiring should be:

Let us know if fixing the wiring fixes the problem.

Welcome to the board BTW

Another option would be to get it back to stock and go for there. You can ether go to the junk yard or get a 'revers' harness. Just match up the colors, use solder and heat shrink on all the connections. The just use a harness as usual. Make those connections the same way. Gummie may b right that it's not the radio. But this way the radio is right.
