Amp install questions

I got a 4 channel Pioneer amp for my front and rear speakers. I am wondering if I have to disconnect the speaker wires from the deck and wire from the amp to the speakers or can I leave them connected to the deck and still run them from the amp?

If you want to AMPLIFY the sound, it has to run through the AMPLIFIER. Make sure you don't just plug the speaker wire into the RCA's on your amp, use the low output (RCA's) from your head unit. If the stereo you are using doesn't have them OR the amp doesn't have high inputs (speaker wire) then you'll have to get a converter.

My deck has the RCA outs, but I'm talking about who to get the signal to the amp, but about should I disconnect the original car speacker wire from the speakers or the deck and just wire it just from the amp? If I leave them wired up from the deck and wired from the amp, will it screw something up?

YES!!!You'll have to buy some long RCA's and connect them to the amp. Then go to the speakers. You can use the wires already there, but I suggest that you use some better wire all the way from the amp to the speakers.

I haven't hooked it up yet. I'm waiting till the weekend.

But just to confirm...I can leave the speakers connected from the deck to the speakers, and connect the speakers from the speaker output at the amp to the speakers at the same time?

you will blow the outputs of both the amp and the deck if you leave both hooked up...you need to disconnect speakers from the deck...use RCA cables from the deck to the amp and hook the amp to the speakers...are you using factory delco speakers?

NO absolutely not!

If your concerned about running wires all over the place, you can connect the front and rear speaker wires together behind the stereo. That way you can use the wires that used to go to the rear speakers and use those to power the front. After that you only have a short run from the amp to the rears (providing your amp is going to be mounted in the hatch/trunk area.
No matter what you have to choose if the speakers are going to be wired to the amp OR stereo , not both!!!
Do you have any instructions?

I didn't get any instructions, but that was my main concern about the wiring. Everything else should be cake to me now.
