Cheap mans stereo
I have the following:
2-10" JBL subs with an Xplode 250W amp
Standard 6x9's + standard 4x6's using the 250W amp with the JVC stereo.
I boutgh the stereo head and the amp at walmart. I am now thinking of buying the rest of my stereo stuff at walmart
I am planning on:
2-12" Xplode subs (1400W per speaker)
1-1000W amp (500x2 channels)
2-6"x9" 400W (200W per speaker)
2- 4"x6" 250W (125W per speaker)
I am planning on hooking my existing 250W amp to the 6x9's and the new amp to the new speakers and the stereo amp to the 4x6's. I am not much of a stereo guy, which is why I would rather spend little money doing this (hince buying the walmart stuff). My thing is, don't I need a cross over or something, and if so where do I get one and what kind should I be looking for? You guys think there is anything wrong with the Sony Xplode brand?

My car originally came with the Sony Xplode 6x9's and deck, and I just extended it from their with their 1,000 watt amp, 4x6's and two of their 12"s. It sounds good enough for me and I was really satisfied with it. Just a note, since you don't have a Camaro, be prepared to do some trimming of the vent ducts when putting in the 4x6"'s. Just cut the ducts untill the speaker fits and place duct tape over the cuts to re-seal them.
Sony's quality has went down the tubes over the past decade. Their car audio line is pretty bad nonw
You can get better for the money, I would shop around and do some research before spending any money. Otherwise you might find yourself spending it all over again, because the equipment failed.

I bought my car with all sony stuff, You can't hear it over my engine.. but thats because my engine is too loud
when I get my car back together, I'm thinking of going with some FI subs.

This is the guy who started RE Audio, and now is starting this company.
Subs are getting great reviews, and the price is pretty good too.
This time last year I would have recommended you getting some RE subs during the group buy. But those days are gone forever

On topic, but different car, 1980 Bonneville. I'm going to go with all Lightning Audio speakers since they are like a cheap version of Rockford Fosgate, in a way.
Lighting Audio is pretty questionable, in terms of quality and reliability. I wouldn't waste any money on that stuff.

I'm just going for some thing cheap, not the best. I'll have $350 in my stereo. Pioneer head unit $100, LA 6.5s $35, LA 6x9 $40, 2 LA 12" subs $80, dual bandpass $50, Pyramid 1000w amp $50.
I think I have over $2,000 in my stereo in my Firebird, but that's quality sound and durabilty.
