You're actually comparing louder? L7s...clearer CVRs, I ran four 15" CompVRs, each had its own ported box that was tuned down to 35hertz or so running on twin Hiphonics Brutus 1500.1Dclass mono blocks (the older hiphonics...not the new stuff)...i had each amp on a toggle so I could turn only listen to 2 subs while I was riding around. And with two on they were loud but sounded a lot better.

edit:
this was in a yukon...not a 3rd gen LoL

Opt out for the 15" L7 then just to make sure...although the 12" l7s are equal to circle 15" subs (considering you add 20% more space for it being a square sub, if I remember correctly) and Im pretty confident the the L7s will be louder...

It's not about how loud it is, that's retarded. It's about how good it sounds, I used to like loud bass, but now I would rather have no bass with good sounding speakers, than to have loud bass with good speakers.

Sound quality is there it is at my friend.

go with the L7's i have a single L5 12" with a custom box running all of 800watts rms to it and it sounds nice hits clean compared to my sony xplods(black model) 12"ers i have 2. the L5 hits lower notes a lot better and just is louder over all kicker owns. just installed 2 kicker comps(black ones) in my friends car to a rockford 300watt rms amp and they hit clean nice and hard for even little power.

Either of those in a ported application will get loud enough to cause permanent hearing damage within minutes, so I wouldn't get too worried about the details of which is louder, because in a few years you won't be able to hear it worth a damn anyway.

I'm not exactly old, I'm only 19. I just can't stand it when people have to have the loudest stereo possible.. is it seriously necessary to have loud music? I mean, I like bass and all, trust me.. I used to be all about loud bass, but I prefer to hear my music with nice clean bass now.

I had a exp. sort of like yours. I have 4 12' mtx with 1500rms. I turned it up all the way at a compitetion and I went deaf for at least 10 seconds I was starting to freak out then my hearing came back.

GO WITH L7's they are compitetion subs and with a good amp could blow away my mtx's im sure. I had 1 15in. L7 in a 5 cubic ft. ported box. It hit so hard so of my interior plastics were coming unscrewed. And it was cold as hell b'cuz it pushed so much air.

For the price...kicker is the best IMO if you want something really loud. There are louder subs, that still have a sound and have amazing quality, but thats a whollllle nother price range. If I dont go with two 15" Kicker L7s in my third gen I have a friend who just put two Soundstream XXX-15 in his 06 range rover, and I can honestly say those are the LOUDEST subs I've ever heard in my life, but they're a very very high end sub.

The Kicker L7 are the best subs on the market!! By far blow must other subs out of the water. The L7 line is Better then CVR!! Id also try the big 3! Bigger wires to amp, battery and alt. Upgraded all mine to 0 guage and notice a big improvement in power and SQ.

2 Kicker 12 " L7!! Thats what i would get!!

The FI BTL15 is $379 and you can configure it to your liking when you purchase it too.

I've never been a fan of the square subs, SQ is horrible and not sure if they've fixed this problem or not, but the first gen square subs had problems of the surround coming apart around the corners.

all that regurgitated rumors....
SQ on the L7 is there, if installed for SQ, big ported box and 2000 watts, is NOT as SQ system. Too many SQ awards to prove likewise.

OK the O word was thrown out so I have to speak up. I am over 40 years young. I also like loud music. Currently I am running around 1800 watts. 1600 to a sub, 200 to speakers. Now my hearing is toast, thanks to the USAF and could proably use a hearing aid, but damnit have you ever heard Zepplin will a good sub. Sound IS NOT age related. Yes I drive mine daily. No I can afford something else, have 6 new vehicles in the driveway, no I dont live in a trailer park. Yes my neighbors in my upscale area do think I am crazy.

wow... L7 is not a SQ sub at all.. if you want SQ like cdoyle said a BTL would kill an L7 SQ vs. SQ.. Fi Q will have better SQ than a L7 .. L7 does not have any SQ end of story

www.ficaraudio.com

The BTL
https://ssl.perfora.net/www.ficaraud...iew.shopscript

The Q
https://ssl.perfora.net/www.ficaraud...iew.shopscript

The BTL is their SPL sub a monster of a sub as is, or you can configure it to do even more depending on what you want. Plus it doesn't sound like crap.

The Q is their more SQ sub. I'm actually going to be getting these I think.

from what ive heard cdoyle.. you wont be dissapointed, the Q has great SQ and gets pretty loud.. i bought an SS RL-p myself.. more of an SQL driver..

and jak.. it was just some suggestions, because they are better subs, now everybody does know what they are and i do realize your just going for SPL here.. was just throwing out some suggestions.. because those subs get loud AND sound awesome at the same time

dumbest thing I've read....the L7 can be a SQ sub, look at history...while the Fi's are great subs (know the owner personally) the L7's have been winning major SQ awards since the introduction in 2000.

Installation is what makes it SQ.

/real end of story
