Dash speaker rattle
Dash speaker rattle
Hi, i have the pioneer 4x6 speakers on the dash, because crutchfield said they would fit, but i cant put any power to them because they hit the dash or cause major rattle, im not 100 percent sure what it is, so i make the sound fade to the rear speakers to avoid rattle, any tips or suggestions to fix this problem

That's weird, I used to have them Pioneers in mine and had no problems. The 4X6 speakers I have now are actually bigger then those and I still have no problem. I did take the base out of them though like the guy before me said. I fronts are only highs, my back are mids and my subs are the low.

Well, if you don't want or need to use the outermost ac/heater vents (the large and small verticle ones) you can unbolt your dash and remove them and your speakers will drop right in. You can probably get some aftermarket ducting to run to them though if you don't want to ditch them. Just pay attention to the routing.
I have a 92 and I had to ditch them to make my Infinity Reference 4x6s fit. I didn't care about the fit when I bought them though. It was an after thought. I bought them for the sound. They are so deep though, I have to grind away some of the instrument pannel backing (not the actual panel, the concaved area in the actual dash) in order to get the driver's side to finish dropping in. I also need to grind away these odd raised ridges molded into the top of the dash. Why they made the changes they did I have no idea. My 88 was easier to do this crap on.
On a side not my 6x9 JL Audio speakers barely fit because of their depth. You can feel the magnet trying to pull itself to the sail panel.

if you buy them and hook them up in the front , and if they still rattle its your speakers not the bass

Depends I guess LOL. The metal in that area is fairly strong. I don't see anything bad happening as a result. It has a decent amount of clearance. It's just a big strong magnet.
