Simple ? / Simple answer ?

Howdy all you audio gurus, I just purchased a JBL CD2000 from the bay and it only has 15 watts per channel. I got it for $5 so I couldn't pass it up Now here is the ?, I have very little bass and I was wondering if I bought a cheapy used amp how hard is the install and do I need to run any new wires or is it a simple hookup?

PS: I am using the stock speakers, no sub etc.

I haven't run any wires, all the wires are the stock wires in the vehicle. I simply want more more boost from the radio because it only pushes 15 watts per channel.

Thanks for the recommendation, the unit I bought is like that but I paid $5 for it and it looks and plays flawlessly. If I wanted to spend any more than that I wouldn't have bought it. I can pull amps all day long for $5 from the JY so if someone who knows amps can help me with an answer to my original question it would be great.

Hi Duke,

Do you want the amp on all speakers or just the rear. Usually the stock front wont handle a lot. Theres a couple of cheap, simple ways to get what you want.

If you only have the stock 6x9's in the rear, you're not gonna need or want ot put a lot of power back there

Re: Simple ? / Simple answer ?

Basically all I am trying to do is boost the bass so I can hear the drums and bass guitar a little more.

Re: Simple ? / Simple answer ?

well what i did , with my aftermarket 4x6's and 6x9's was put bass blockers on them and use subwoofer and amp for bass

the 6x9's i had powered by an amp for a little but it sound so much like **** from the rear fill

i wouldnt out more then 50rms to any back speaker i had mine doing 75 rms which my speakers could handle but it just sounded shitty

I can live with it as is but I don't want to run any wires or have to buy anything else such as a sub etc. I was just curious if it was doable to add a bit more bass on a very limited budget. Maybe one day I will splurge on a good system I just can't right now, hence the $5 player.

Re: Simple ? / Simple answer ?

Sorry hit the wrong friggin button on my last post.

Hey Duke , you'd have to run some wires, that be ok? Gotta have power and a signal to the amp. You can do a fairly inexpensive system for $100, amp and all

Re: Simple ? / Simple answer ?

well you recommend 50watts for 6x9s.... you have to look at their RMS rating.. you cant just go by what other people have.. different speakers handle different loads

Re: Simple ? / Simple answer ?

I guess I have come to the conclusion that I bought a POS, good thing it wasn't more than $10. I will live with it until I can either pull a nicer one, get a better one or can afford a new one.
Thanks for everyones input.
