cd player wiring help!
Ok. Im having alittle trouble installing my new cd player. Its a cheap Alpine(CDE-9870). My problem is that i have 9 wires coming from the radio harness(no connector), and not entirely sure what they are. I checked multiple wiring schematics and after trial and error it ended in error.
The wires coming from the harness are as followed:
Black
Yellow
orange
Dark gray
Grey (speaker)
Brown (speaker)
Dark green(speaker)
light green(speaker)
Dark brown
The new Alpine cd player:
Blue- power ant
Blue/white- remote turn-on
pink/black- audio interrupt in
orange- Illumination
Red- Ignition
Yellow- battery
Black- ground
and the speakers are:
gray-(+) RF)
Gray/black- (-)RF)
Violet/black-(-)RR)
Viloet-(+)RR
Green-(+) LR)
Green/black-(-) LR)
White/Black-(-)LF)
White-(+) LF)
.....So what goes with what wire? Also, The car is and 83 trans am.
and I am aware that some wires are not going to be used. I greatly appreciate any input.

The car's harnes is as follows: Orange is your hot, yellow is your ACC, black is your ground. you can find your speaker wires by hooking them to a power source of some kind and listening to what speaker crackles. as for the stereo, there should be a sticker on the top that tells which wire is for what.

Re: cd player wiring help!
ok i hooked up the 12v battery and ignition, dimmer, the ground, the speakers and i get no display on the head unit. I believe all the necessary fuses are ok. I got that "CD eject/recieve" sound when i turn on my accessories, but then the screen display doesnt come up. I am getting 12v from the orange and yellow wires, but not from the gray dimmer wirer from the factory harness, not sure what the problem is...

you shouldn't need the dimmer wire from the factory harness. Just cap it off and get it out of the way. make sure that you've got the 12v and the ACC wires hooked up to the right wires on the stereo.

ACC is accessory power, the ignition.
I just went to the site in question and didn't need any kind of password...

get a haynze manual on your car they cost around $16 in the back they show the wiring harness. if your to strung out of cash try a 9 volt battery to the wires that are solid then same color with a black line. theses are your speaker leads. with the 9 volt trick the speakers will crackle and give you an idea of what speaker it is. your solid color is + black line is- for your speakers. the yellow is acc witch kills your power with the switch. orange is constant it should be red but this is what keeps your settings and last solid black is neg or ground. hopefully this works if not ill get back with you when i can see my manual.
