Alpine CDE-9873

How do I change the plugs for this? There's the small box that plugs into your CD player (I guess for sound purposes), except my deck has a different one than the old decks do. How do I properly wire up the deck if I don't have the right cables? Can anyone offer some insight into this? Is there a converter from old to new I can buy? I don't want to mess around with audio by soldering my own home-made version of the converter and risk the warranty and such. How have you guys put in your new decks when you have no had the right plug?

Thanks,

G

Re: Alpine CDE-9873

I just wired up the same Alpine deck in my 92 Camaro yesterday. I used the plug that came with the reciever and manually wired it up to the car. I hade to remove the old plug (cut the wires). I wired it up by matching the Car wire color to the same CD player connector color directly. The only wires that didn't have a corresponding wire were the cars orange/white wire and the CD player pink wire and remote turn on (blue) wire.

I must have a horrendously butchered harness because mine is all sorts of different colors (for speakers, anyway) and I wired my dimmer to my left speaker, apparently. I found a wiring diagram on the internet and I'll just match that all up to my alpine adapter and go from there.

Did you have issues fitting the deck into the console? I'm going to have to grind out some plastic on either side of the deck to allow it to fit. Did you just buy a mounting kit for the car or something?

Re: Alpine CDE-9873

I had a previous mounting kit for the car, so I used it but I had to modify the rear bracket (behind the head unit) so it wouldn't stick out so far.
