need help with factory radio
when i got this car the factory radio was in it but it was not hooked up, (had aftermarket before) the radio was out of a newer car or something because it has different plugs in the radio. so i went to the junk yard and got a newer style harness to match the radio ,all the colors match except the pink wire (antenna i think?) after all the hookups, i plug in the radio and all i get is a high pitch squeal out of the speakers and no lights in the radio work (no display) all i can do is change the volume, any suggestions? Ive tried a different radio to, one i know works, it has the extended range sound system 1986 iroc z28
Re: need help with factory radio
I just switched to a delco radio out of a 2001 pontiac. The antenna wire is black and has it's own plug. You will probably need to buy and adapter. I got one from tweeter after a lot of searching around. If you take pics of the radio and harness I'd be happy to help you with wiring it.

Here's a link to a thread where I posted the wire color charts a few years ago. And you'll need an adapter for your antenna connection to make your '86 antenna cable plug into an '89+ radio.
