Re: Alpine CDA-9887
I don't own this particular Alpine deck, but, my dad has an Alpine deck in his van that is probably 9 or 10 years old, and it still going strong. I mean, things are just now starting to go strange (volume control sometimes turns down when you go to first turn up, LCD screen dimming, but that's all usual).
I would reccommend Alpine.

I've got the 9885 and it's a great unit. I wish I had known the 9887 was coming out, I'd have waited for it for the extra features.

Alpine makes the best decks out there, remember....you never hear any rap singers saying that they're bumping to their Kenwood, or Pioneer. Alpine is the only company that I know of that still sell replacement parts to repair decks that are 20 years old.

Re: Alpine CDA-9887
Alpine all the way for me. I plan on buying a 2007 CD deck as soon as the 08 models come out because they will be cheaper. Im trying to located a CDA 9856 as we speak. If I have ANY advice to give, its to STAY AWAY from the decks with that slide glide button crap. They are notorious for not working

Re: Alpine CDA-9887
It really depends on what you want it for. Overall it is a rather good deck, but the ipod interface is less than desirable and some of the features are difficult to find. If you are looking for something with a nice ipod interface, pioneer probably has the best one i have found so far. For an extra hundred or so you can get the pioneer 7900BT which has bluetooth built and a much easier ipod interface. If you are not worried so much about the extra bells and whistles like ipod and bluetooth, its a good buy for the money.
