stereo/havac
Car currently has a CD player in it but it's a cheap one so I wanted to install my alpine from my truck. I noticed that the head unit in it now was sitting funny and that the face plate that covers the stereo and HAVAC controls was hardly even on, after I took it off i noticed that the black plastic frame work that holds the stereo and havac controls is all broken and wired up. My question is this...are these plastic frame things the same for both the trans am and camaro's (82-92 style)

That peice is fine its the actual frame work for the consol it self that is broken...its the black frame work that the hvac and radio actually bolt to and the whole thing bolts to the bottom of the dash (two piece center consol)

Not sure if firebird consoles changed throughout the years.

Re: stereo/havac
I was talking to david today which is the owner of david T auto center which specilize in camaro and trans am parts and he said that its gotta be an 85 or newer trans am (two piece console) and I think the camaro's are just one piece, he said he has some but they want like 170 bucks for one which I thought was a little steep but I guess if i have to have it I have no choice unless I find one around here...no luck so far tho

Re: stereo/havac
thought about that but like you said I was a little worried about the quality and the shipping so it was going to be a last resort.

Your talking about the plastic peice that surrounds your havac controls and your radio. I got that at a junk yard for free.
Perfect condition.
Go to the "Wanted Parts" boards an post that you are look for that piece. And look for it in the "Parts for sale" Board. There are some people parting out their f-bodies there.
I don't know how much they run but you should check your local junk yard too

I wish I was looking for that part...alot cheaper to buy, but I'm looking for the frame work that that very piece clips too and the radio/hvac bolt to it. Not one junk yard around me has one let alone an F body junked...our junk yards mostly keep stocked up on 94 and newer stuff any thing older they will take some good parts...ie trans and motor and then crush the rest of it.

im pretty sure what your talking about is the radio/hvac pod that sits under the dash infront of the center console. I just bought one for 30 bucks from a guy parting out his car in the "parts for sale" section
