It looks alright. The only problem I see with it are the colors. It's silver with white text. Black and orange would be awesome. Mine is silver too, kind of sucks, but not that bad.

Most have a silver frame trim piece like this.
I suppose you could paint it black like this one . . .
. . . and it would tone down the silver a bit.

I have the next step up from that HU. the 4900ib i think it is. Basically the same thing with I pod control, flip face, and better preout voltage. Its great, easy to use, and is packed with tons of features. A
ll my pioneers have been excellent quality. My last one is going on 10 years, it still works, I just wanted an upgrade.

Re: Pioneer DEH-P3900mp anyone using it?
I put this one in the wifes car, it's around $150-180 depending on where you go. I think this is the model number - CDXGT610U:
The usb port is fantastic for a usb drive, you can access the menus and everything from the panel. Also I like the big slot hidden in behind and it also plays mp3's. It has an AUX in in the back of the unit, so when you install you can have the cable come out wherever you like instead of running it up the dash - I find that ugly as well. With the aux in you can do the usual stuff like iPod and Sirius/XM direct lines in so you dont' have to fight with an FM Transmitter. Much better sound that way.
Forgot to mention the buttons on the left and presets are orangey/reddish. I'm not sure if you can change the colours of the main screen. Double check if you go with this one if you want the AUX in, I don't see it in the list from Sony's site. Also, there is version of this same deck that does have the slot and AUX in on the front if you rather have that. My only beef with it is the volume control is a bit small for my liking, need it to stick out more.
Front panel USB input
SAT radio and iPod control ready
DSO / EQ3 Stage 2
52Wx 4 high power
Front, rear and sub preouts with LPF
Flip-down detachable faceplate
13-segment FL display
Switchable red/green illumination
Supplied wireless card remote (RM-X151)
CD/CD-R/CD-RWcompatible
MP3/WMA/AAC/ATRAC3plus playback
MP3 ID3 tag indication (title/artist/album)
Multi-session (MP3/ATRAC/WMA/AAC)
ATRAC3plus/CONNECT ready
24-bit D/A converter
UniLink control, CD Text
Drive-S, pause function
SSIR-EXA tuner, 18FM and 12AM presets
BTM (Best Tuning Memory)
Tel/Nav attenuation
Optional wired rotary remote (RM-X4S)
45 degree install
CEA-2006 power compliant

I will check both those HU's out.
Like I said, it doesnt have to be to fancy as far a features. I guess im still in the stoneage. Most of the time I just listen to the radio or a CD. I havent really got into downloading music yet.
Not that im a old grandpa, but I just havent kept up with some of the audio trends.
I have been looking into the Sirius/XM radio. To be honest, I've not had much dealings with ipods/MP3/usb music. I guess I need to get started.lol

Re: Pioneer DEH-P3900mp anyone using it?
I've have Sirius for over 4 months now and don't plan on going back to terrestrial radio anytime soon. Best entertainment investment I've made in awhile...not to mention Stern!
But on topic, I plan on getting either the 4900 or 5900 HU because of it's satellite capability. Just need to finish the other major upgrades on the car first.

Yes you need one of THESE and a subscription to Sirius. I don't know how much it is in the US but here in Canada, I pay about $13/mth and that includes all the channels.

Re: Pioneer DEH-P3900mp anyone using it?
I agree, I rarely listen to regular radio any more. Just for traffic cause there really isn't much on there for Toronto hehe.
What he linked is a receiver and antenna that you can hide wherever you want (cept the antenna has to be high, I have mine on the dashboard and works just fine - just don't have it under the wiper blades/arms).
Another option is getting a separate box with a display that can mount to your windshield or off to the side if you'd rather have it low like I do. This way you can take it to any car you want or even into the house if you get the home adapter. I like this option cause I sometimes drive work vehicles for long distances and having to never change the channel is fantastic.
A lot of people, like me , don't want to be a music programmer and load stuff onto thumb drives or iPods. I'd rather just plug it in and go, never have to think about what I want to remove cause i'm out of space. Another good thing about these separate units (i'm not sure if the head units SteelTown referred to do this) is that you can store 30 bands or songs you like - and it will let you know when that band is on. On ANY channel. It also does this for sports, though I haven't tried it for that. It may update scores in this manner as well, but again - haven't tried it.

Re: Pioneer DEH-P3900mp anyone using it?
Yea, I have the portable unit in my daily driver also, but for the Camaro I want something permanent as I don't like things hanging around on the windshield, etc...unfortunately I don't have a choice in the DD as it's a factory HU.
I'm not sure if the SIR unit can "track" bands or songs..I'd have to read up on it more.
