All depends on how its going to be setup. If you have stereo RCA connections on the back of your head unit snake a 1/8th stereo phono plug to RCA adapter underneath the console and into your center console, that way you can let the ipod rest in there.
If your stereo has iPod USB support than use the iPod usb support as it will let you control the ipod with the stereo. This also had the added benefit of charging your ipod while its playing.
No need for the harness spliced with a ipod adapter.

You can buy the pioneer ipod interface adapter for it. This will charge your ipod and let you control it through the head unit. The only problem with this is it's slow.
You can also go with a cheaper method, where you would pick songs from the ipod itself. I just got something like this for my brother. I found an $8.50 pioneer auxiliary input adapter on ebay and a 6 dollar headphone jack to RCA converter to plug into it.

I have the same flip out screen in my camaro. You definately want to get the ipod interface CD-IB100II there on sale at bestbuy for 30dollars too. Full display and charging. The screen does have audio/video inputs so all you have do it is buy a rca to mini (4dollar part). but it doesnt charge and less sound quality (audio out to an audio input). Or if you have a ipod Video can buy the rca (red, white, yellow) to the ipod plug to get full video and audio to screen.

I have an ipod hooked up to my Pioneer with the adapter which allows control and charging through the head unit. There is a little trick you can do for the ipod itself.
The ashtray is removable and the ipod will fit quite easily under it.

i run an alpine adapter in my grand prix. I recently got an iphone and the adapter still works with the iphone, and there is no more delay searching through the ipod through the deck itself. If you go with an adapter, youll get better sound quality too.

I got an old Sony so what I did was get a transmitter/charger/holder, and then modied my ash tray panel. I put an extra outlet in it hooked up to the radio, so when the car is on it is on. Then put my window switches there, Never have had a problem yet with it.
