Hey guys, does anyone know if a set of Polk MMC460 4x6"'s will fit in my dash? They're plate speakers. My car's a 1991 firebird with the stock speakers that are definitely ready to be replaced with some nice aftermarkets.

if they say it fits it should but if it doesn't lust return it
Sorry, I should of phrased that a little better.. My question is can they fit? I know crutchfield says they aren't a direct swap for the stock speakers. I'm curious if anyone has put these in and what they had to do to fit them though.
Or if these won't fit, does anyone have a recommendation for a good plate speaker that will fit?

I have a Set of 4x6s in my 87 Firebird that fit right in. the plate style like that look like they might not, I would recoment just regular 4x6s, I went with Alpines, they run about $100 and I love them.

If you can i would just get a set of 6 inch speakers, i know there would be a bit of messin around to get them to fit in. perhaps its just me but in general 4x6's arnt really a good speaker in general...i have clarion 4x6's in mine and clarion 6x9's in the rear of the exact same speaker and the rear ones sounds much much better, wish i had 6 inch speakers up front now instead of my 4x6's

I haven't put a plate style speaker in mine, but have heard that the location can be slightly modded to accept them. I understand that the defrost ducting interferes with the installation due to the magnet location of the plate speaker. I have seen a heat gun used to soften the ductwork in order to accept the speaker.
I ended up going with with a pair of Polk DB461's.. It was an extremely tight fit, but they did go in without modification. Now that I've been in there, and see just how tight of a fit it is (especially on the drivers side), I'm glad I didn't buy the plate speakers.. I'm sure they sound better, but it looks like it would of been a huge hassle getting them in.
