My 1987 IROCZ Bose sounds system is trash now. I took the rear speakers out and put in a stereo speaker (100w) and a kenwood speaker I got for free that is kinda shot. I still have the speakers in front but there done. One cant handle anything and the left one is ok but want new speakers all the way around. I like a lot of bass but dont want subs (dad wont allow). Any ideas?

Re: opinions
hey man, i would check out eclipse's stuff. they are very clear, and have a very good sound, and well priced. you can get the point source 6x9 (the tweeter is aimable)...and they are around $100-150. then the se4600's are good das mounts as well. you're going to get the best sound by buying a 4-channel amp to run them. i actually have an eclipse for sale. pm me for that...
but besides that, you can also make a plate that will support a 6 1/2" component set in the rear. it may not hit as 'hard' as a 6x9, but will be much better for when you do add subs. here is a great set. not sure of the cost on them...but http://www.eclipse-web.com/component/sc8365.html
hope this helps my man. lemme know if you have any more questions. im not an audio genius, but did manage a shop for awhile, and i also work in a recording studio, so i know good sound. =D

Re: opinions
Eclipse has some nice sounding equipment.
But if you want some bass without the subs, check out www.memphiscaraudio.com. The component sets can be spendy, but if you throw an amp on them, I think you'll find what you're looking for. These things even boom on display boards, I can only imagine in the car. I believe the front speakers will only run you about $60.

oh, another good company to check out is DLS. http://www.dls.se/en/car/index.html I'm not a big fan of their subs, but they do have some really nice speakers. But they're spendy as well.
If the X-Mas giver is going to be frugal, try opting for a complete set of low end pioneers or sony. Yeah it's better to just spend the money and get a better stuff right away. But atleast you'll be able to listen to your music it without it crackling or fading in and out.
Plus I don't know how long I could go listening to my exhaust all the time.

Re: opinions
i would recommend a single 10" in a ported box. if you have good power, and the right air space, i think you'll be pleased. and the 5 channel amp he was talking about is a great idea. you will have very clear sound if you do that.

nah man. you dont have to shake the neighborhood to have subs. a good sound quality system is awesome. who cares what people hear outside. its about what you like. a single ten in that hatch would be a great start. then, if you feel like you want more, you can always step up models of that 10, or get 2, or go to 12s, more power....etc...

even though you get a smaller sub doesnt mean it wont be better then a bigger sub ive seen 10" subs that blew my friends 2 12" subs out of the water getting a high quality 10" and a nice amp could A. please your parents more and B.more bang for your buck instead of buying 2 cheap 12s getting one really nice 10" Thread
