When i bought my 1982 z28 it had the stock stereo all ready removed and none of the wires marked and it seems some of the wires are mising actually. I was looking for the wiring diagram for the stereo wires coming from the car, All help is appreciated thanks alot

 

Did someone cut the factory plugs off of the harness? If they did they need to be kicked! if not go to Walmart and buy a radio harness for your year car. Hooking up a stereo this way is a snap. If the plugs have been chopped off you will need a 12v test light and a c or d sized 1.5 volt battery. First find all the hot wires,key on and key off. After you know which ones are hot you can check for the speaker wires. Use the battery and touch any 2 speaker wires to the + & - and you will hear the speaker lightly pop. You can tell by which way the speaker moves which wire is the + speaker wire. Make sure to connect all the speakers the same polarity. Good luck.

 

Another easy way is to go to your local stereo shop and ask for a "Theft harness" This is the car end of the harness (The one you are missing) The wires are color coded so as to match the factory colors. Also, while you are there, get a radio harness. This might sound complicated (Depends on how much experience you have with this.) but its really not.

Yes they did cut off the cars harness which i have no clue why but alot of people seem to be doing it as the neon i bought before my camaro and the celica i bought around the same time had theirs cut off too. The stereos were wired wrong too but i fixed the othrs.

drknow- Thanks for the name i forgot what the harnes from the car was called lol. I have alot of car audio ive done myself i just didnt know the wire colors and i dont really have the time to test each wire but I found a site with every make and models stock wire colors (I'll post it when i get back on from my laptop at home since i saved the site on there).
