Yea I wasn't sure how the black would turn out but I like it. Man I looked all over here and couldn't find one thirdgen with red interior!

Re: My Sub Box! Check it out please tell me what you think!

Alright guys so I was out messing with the car today and of course had the radio going and the subs pounding...Well wouldnt you know that those kicker subs hit so hard that it literally blew the top of my box off! Now I didnt have many screws holding the whole thing down (I didnt think I needed that many) is there a stronger way to help hold this down or should I simply just screw it down again using more screws?

No my mistake I didn't I just screwed it in for easy removal. I am now going to use a sealer for the top and screw it back down, something like liquid nails...Any better ideas? or thoughts?

Well I really dont have money at the moment, and shipping on boxes is a lot, I am in Miami. But that box looks good, i want one that sits low, and im horrible at making boxes lol i learned the hard way. So if I dont find one locally I guess in about a month and a half or two.

Making the box was actually a lot easier then I thought it would have been. As long as you have the proper tools it can be done in a weekend's time. Where do you live? I understand shipping would cost a lot but I would not charge much more then the cost itself to build you one. I just finished a box for my buddies 4th gen last night and I actually like the way that one came out better! I am already thinking about changing my setup yet again when the warmer weather finally rolls in...

Re: My Sub Box! Check it out please tell me what you think!

Yea Miami is pretty far to ship a box haha. Look on ebay you can get some pretty decent boxes for a good price there. I have not personally seen one in person made for a thirdgen but many people on this site has purchased them and speak highly of them...

I would recommend it, if you would like the plans that I used to make mine I would be happy to email them to you. They are pretty straight forward.

Re: My Sub Box! Check it out please tell me what you think!

now thats the best ide ever especially if you live in a place where they brake in to cars thats what i have on min but witout the middle hole though, im gonna put some computer fans in it so the amps wont heat up as much, keep that in mind.

Re: My Sub Box! Check it out please tell me what you think!

Yea people around here do like to break into cars and try to rip off all the audio equipment. I'm not completly worried about someone breaking into as its always in my garage or me standing next to her . But I do want the clean look so hiding the amp and cap in the spare tire area is something I am going to look into. I was also thinking about a cooling fan or something to help it from getting to hot...

Re: My Sub Box! Check it out please tell me what you think!

Hey, I managed to find your PDF of the plans in another thread and built the box to the same specs. I have a 1986 berlinetta camaro with the electric hatch and the box is hitting a bracket on the rear wall of the car and won't slide past it into place. I was looking at your pics and you don't seem to have these brackets. I was just wondering if you could confirm this for me. Also, I'm relatively new to the car world as well as camaros and I have no idea what the purpose of the brackets in my car are for. Just thought I'd ask in case you might know.

thanks
Jon

Can you take a picture of what you are talking about and of your setup? Did you build the box exactly to spec in that PDF? I have a TON of pictures of my old setup (sold it all and sold the car) and I still have the box I made up in the attic for reference. If you can get me some pictures I will gladly help you out.

Its called a capacitor, it is a saftey item when running a lot of power in a car audio system. It helps regulate the volts going to the amp and protects your car battery. Kinda like a surge protector does in your home. They are pretty cheap depending on the size you need, and are very easy to install. I always ran one after my buddy fried his amp and his car running a high power setup.
