Pioneer Head unit Install gone wrong?

I'm puzzled over what I'm up against in installing my new pioneer head unit in my 92 camaro....I cannot get the unit to power up-here are the senarios.

I have tested the 12v constant power along with the ground and ignition 12v power on the car everything checks out.

The ignition 12v power and ground work fine connected to the deck

BUT! The second I touch the head unit constant power to the car constant power it drops to like 2.3 volts

Any guesses? I'll be calling pioneer in the morning but I doubt they'll be much help....could it be something with my car? but everything checks out to be normal before I connect the head unit...

Look in the fuse panel. You will find some single pin connections where a fuse can not fit. Test to find one that is constant. When you find one plug in to it with a male spade connector & some wire. Hook that up to the cd player and see if it works.

Thanks Striker911 As I was thinking about it more last night...that was the only other option I could think of and when I tried it this morning it worked! Only last question now is how should I go about wiring into the fusebox more permanently and what size fuze should I use?

Well that's a good way to test. I have both power wires hooked up that way in my car. I will be leaving it like that and make sure the wire is tied out of the way real good. Your yellow wire should have a fuse on it already right? If not call Pioneer to see what size you need.

If you want to make sure its as safe as it can be, then you can get a wire at radio shack that has a fuse built in. hook it straight to the battery like an amp. If you do that then go one size bigger on the wire since it would be long.

So you do have it tied into the fusebox? I was thinking about just unbolting the fusebox and tie into the 12v constant from behind...what do you think? And i'll just call pioneer about the fuse size because the yellow doesn't have an inline fuse. the deck does have a 10 in it though

ya that's how mine is hooked up. just two spade connectors, but both wires have fuses right out of the cd player. If your deck has the 10 amp fuse built in, then use a 15 amp fuse. you can wire it in behind the fuse box if you would like just don't cut to short.
