Re: front dash speaker HELP!

i havent tapped into my camaros system quite yet but if i was you i would call your local high end retailer or go to crutchfield.com. they have all kinds of fitment information on thier site. worst case give them a shout. please post once you figure out the max depth it will allow with out fabracation or cutting. good luck.

Re: front dash speaker HELP!

I think they will fit, i used alpine 4x6, they were really tight. give me a few hours, and i'll check the depth on them to let you know. If mine are deeper yours will Fit. if mine are shorter your speakers will not fit......Mine have 0 clearness to the dash pad, and sitting on internal plasic, I can't see anything bigger or deeper fitting without cutting.....

Re: front dash speaker HELP!

Alpine SPS-406, top mounted depth is 1 3/4" (1.75")......Your speakers SHOULD fit without cutting......Good luck....

Re: front dash speaker HELP!

most speakers come with a mounting bracket, did yours? And did you try to use it? I can't remember if I used mine! Your mounting depth seems fine! Maybe its the diameter of the magnet!!!!!! Or you may need to use some small washers as spacers! Like I said my speakers were a tight fit too.! Nice Looking Car Though....

Re: front dash speaker HELP!

I have some pioneers(TS-A4657) 4x6 that I had in my T/A (I dont like bass in the dash so I installed some tweeters instead)The mounting depth is 1.75 as well..If u want them i can get them to u for.... 20 bucks shipped?...does that sound good? =] (I'd give em to u for free but Im saving up for my speeding ticket =[)the built in mounting bracket is beat up but I was able to screw em down with no problems and no rattle

Re: front dash speaker HELP!

See the depth is fine, 87 white gta also had the same depth with his speakers. Therefore its the diameter like you and I said. You can buy and try those speakers from 87whitegta, or try taking back those you bought, even w/out the receipt you should get store credit and switch for something with a smaller magnet. My Alpine sps-406 fits tight.....But does Fit. If you don't like Alpine, at least at the store you can use its spec's as a guide line for fitment.....................and find something you do like.......

Re: front dash speaker HELP!

WOAH! wait a min here guys.

If it doesnt fit dont cut up your AC! You will have to do some finessing on the ducts. This has been covered on how to do this in the past. Do a search and youll find it.

IMHO either buy ones that fit or do the heat-and-finess techinque. Either way dont cut up your ac ducts guys! If you dont want AC then remove all the ducts and all the AC under the hood and save yourself all that weight. Either way dont cut up the ducts!

Re: front dash speaker HELP!

That's a really good trick (heat and finess), never thought of that, good advise....But I think your too late. It sounds like "itsMikey" alresdy cut up his A/C cup. But others may read this and now will know....buy small magnet or use heat.
