Re: Double Din

From what I've seen, you might have to take out the hvac controls. Or at least move them up. I'm not sure exactly. It has been done before though.

Re: Double Din

i ve been thinking about doing this too, from the looks of it you have to move the ac controls up and cut/fabricate the plate that goes over the stereo/ac controls, do a search man the info is out there

I sold my double din thinking it couldnt be done, just to find out it can.I have a firebird but I kno camaros have a lil more space to work with.

If u have a firebird u need to cut the lil pastic piece that holds the radio pod in place, not break it completely, just cut it in a way that u can still screw it on but takes up as little space as possible.
U'd also need to shave the A/C ducts in the back a little bit, depending on how ur HU looks from the back.Pre amp outs should be taken into account.
U might also want to keep ur wiring as space saving as possible also. The more wire to wire the better (I'd solder or use butt connectors instead of crimps or factory adapters)
Also u might or might not have to move ur HVAC controls.I found that if u cut enough in the back u can avoid it.

And finally u need to cut the radio bezel or fabricate one.

It all sounds like a lot of work, but is really a no biggie.
