Monsoon cd radio
I got a monsoon cd player from the local bone yard real cheap and it plugged right up but the cd player will not play when i put a cd in it says no data. I know it could be broken but was just wondering if there might be an adabter out ther that might help since the cat came with a tape player and not a cd. thanks

Re: Monsoon cd radio
I've got a 87 GTA that came with a cassette deck. I installed a 99 Grand Prix cd player in it a 1 1/2 years ago, and no problems yet. Like you said, yours could be broken!

The CD player should work no problem if you're using a standard CD, no adapter needed to play. Are you trying something you copied/burned or an original CD? Some of the stock decks have issues with burned discs, but you may just have a malfunctioning deck.

Re: Monsoon cd radio
It sounds like the Laser assembly is burned out and the unit needs to be repaired. It says no data because it's not reading the information on the disc. This is usually a costly issue, running about 300 for a typical repair. I would only recommend the route for cars that have to have the monsoon head unit to power the factory amps.
