The well box that I got I bought and the two 12in sub compartments are separated and i was wondering if I drilled a hole inside of it to feed the wires for the two subs through would it mess with the sound any? Probably a dumb question but I wanna make sure before I do it because I didn't think about building a box and I bought this one. Sounds like i got ripped off too cuz I paid quite a bit. Thanks in advance

 

Do you mean through the separator between the compartments? It should be OK if you seal up the hole after running the wire through, use some silicone and let it set before installing the subs. Also, leave enough slack in the wires to connect to the subs before installation.

If you paid a lot of money for this box I would recommend trying to get your money back. It is very easy to build a speakerbox I have built 3 of them and at the time I really didn't have much very many carpenter skills. As far as cost I believe the most I spent was $50. And in my opinion each of these boxes looked really great I wouldn't say completely professional because my carpeting skills have not been perfected yet basically around the port there is no real way to keep the carpet down by the port if you build a sealed box there would be no problems. You can spend more because you can buy some really awesome stuff for boxes such as built in handles really nice looking ports and corners and all kinds of stuff.

Another advantage to building your own box is you can build it to your speaker's specs like if it was designed for a ported or sealed box and the cubic feet etc, which in my opinion makes all the difference.

So if I'm understanding you rightyou bought a box without terminals if they slacked on this I imagine the rest of the box is not of terribly high quality. If so do me a favor and try to return the box and PM me and I can walk you through building your own box. I am by no means any expert at all, but my very first system I did was the very best system I ever heard as far as sound quality, probably not the loudest but it was hard on my ears to sit in there with it turned up and the bass did not drown out the treble at all.

On a side note I built 2 boxes for my 4th gen which sounded awesome both of which only had 1 sub and I think was still to much I guess I would recommend going with 1 sub because if you have never done a system before it's easier to set up (as far as wiring going from 4 ohm to 2 ohm etc), it is cheaper because you have one less sub to buy and you can probably get by with a little smaller amp and also you can build a box easier and stay in the speaker's specs size wise. this completely depends on the speaker but I had a cerwin vega that wanted 2 cubic feet which completely filled up my trunk well in my 4th gen. if u are trying to wire the subs down, just do it from the terminals

 

Drill holes to run the cable and leave them open.
They will act like ports giving you increased bass response.

Just make sure you run the cables with a testicular motion

Just letting you all know I still have the program I am giving away free to make subboxes. it shows what box you can make gives you the idea of what materials you need and also shows graphs of the freq. of the box for your needs. ect... FREE guys just pm if you want it. It is a rar file so you will have to extract it to get it to play it works on windows XP but vista ify. and might have to make sure you right click after install and put compatible for xp. Hoping it will let you do that.
