Pt 1 how hard would it be, Pt 2 does anyone make this

Part one.
for my head unit i was thinking of the one that the luiminas and early 2000s trucks/avalanches had. except i would be using the one for cassettes.

my question is, i know they have head units that read sd cards, but how hard/if possible, would it be to modify the head unit i wish to use to be able to accept and play them? i wouldnt be doing the work either btw.

Part 2.
i just thought of a cool little thing. you guys know the cassettes that have the wires that you can plug into your mp3 player to play music in your car?

well do they make a cassette that has a slot for SD cards so you can just pop it in, slide the cassette in and play?

Pt1 Ive never heard of it being done...In case it could be done you'd have to remove the piece that reads/plays the card from another radio and hardwire to your radio somehow, and since your radio wasnt designed for it it might not sound very good, but I take it you wont mind much the sound quality loss so you could use something like this:http://cgi.ebay.com/CAR-MP3-PLAYER-W...item27ad1cf6d6

PT 2 Not that I know and I dont think they ever will.

whoa i actually just found what i was describing in part 2!

they're called sd cassette adapters. they double as a mp3 player that you can walk around with, but you pop the sd card in and pop it in the radio. i think now i wont need part 1.

wow..I take it back....lol

I didnt think they existed because the quality probably suffers a lot though....but I guess for folks with a tape player is a great option.....

Glad you found what u were looking for though

If the radio you're looking to put in for part 1, here's another option for auxiliary audio from anything with an audio output.

OK - I'll bite ...

Why would you want a cassette head unit?

i really have no idea why . i was thinking of head units but then in that thread (post pics of your head units) i saw someone that had the one i'm now looking for, but with a cd instead of cassette.

i now want something that could possibly look stockish, and idk why but i dont really want a fancy one with a lot of bells and whistles.

and yeah V6F1R3BRD my mind was blown too haha. i didnt bother or even think to google it before this thread because i didnt think it could have possibly existed.

Al Hasse- i was thinking about that, and i had it in mind as i was asking if installing an SD card slot was possible. i asked about the latter because right now i have one of those cassettes with the cord and headphonejack.

i want one with an sd card slot because right now i use my phone as an mp3 player. i'll be getting into a song and then if someone texts me, it'll interrupt the music. i dont want to go buy another ipod because its ~200 bucks and hey, that could be a fair variety of parts =)

so thats why i wanna steer away from the cord

87 WHITE GTA- i really dont know whether or not the quality suffers. i mean playing music through my phone with the sd card and playing it to the car has really nice quality. but of course it may have bad quality idk. i think in the near future i may get one, i need to get my headers on first though
