Has anyone put speakers in the doors? Was thinking about 6x9s but would there be any window clearance issues?

i put 5.25, and i now have 6.5, no issuses

 

I think you have to have electric windows as the handle for a manual window would either hit the speaker cover, or rub your knuckles off on the speaker cover.

I picked up a nice set of door speakers and enclosures from a caddy at the boneyard that would fit well on the Camaro door, but I haven't tried installing them as it would mean destroying my door panels. But these Caddy enclosures would add about 1 inch outwards for better clearance of a speaker magnet in relationship to the window.

more or less shows the process. after the speaker was mounted, i put the door panel back on, and aligned the disc(piece of cardboard that comes with speakers) thats the size of the speaker, with the speaker. then attached it to the door panel with tape, and just taced the position of the circle like that... if yall need anymore help i can make a short video

 

what tool did u use to make the hole though?

 

I have two small ones in each door

 

a regular 1 dollar razor blade, just have to score it many times( in this case, patience is very important for good results)

 

MDF, plastic, vinyl, fibregalss, sanpaper, saw....fits a pair of 6.5" no prob.....just remember to Dynamat the door

 

Are those the camaro stock door panels?
Ive seen my share of camaros but dont remember how the panels look like lol
If thats the case I might pick up a set from the junkyard to try that
