Stereo wiring kits

Hi,

Want to swap my stock stereo for a aftermarket head.
I know you can get wiring kits for this (at least in the states) but as i'm in the uk im struggling. cant find a site that shows all the plugs so i know im getting the right one.

Any able to point me in the right direction?
Car is a 86 TA with the optional delco stereo with subs.

It can't be too difficult to find an adapter that will work... Your 86 uses the same harness that GM used in practically everything from the 70's up until 1990 in the cars, and even a few years later in some trucks. Shop around a bit, you'll find a cheaper source.

Re: Stereo wiring kits

its not the cost of the item mate, its the shipping to the uk and then tax when it gets here.
i resent paying $50 to get a $10 item

Different sources charge different shipping rates. Surely there is a source in the UK, you've just gotta find it. Or just shop around on the internet and find someplace that won't charge you an arm and a leg for shipping.

:P thers a few of us knocking about, just not enough to make it worth the cost of stocking anything usefull for us

After taking out the dash though it seems my forward speakers are about to be rotted through anyway so looks like the simplest thing is to just redo tho lot complete with new uk witing setup

P.S. really like the car btw

Re: Stereo wiring kits

If you can get me a picture of the factory harness I might actually have one laying around, I have a small stash from when I used to be a mobile electronics installer, also check to see if you'll need the antenna adapter, I don't think you will, being an '86 model but you never know. Oh and you'll also need a dash kit to adapt the DIN size unit to the 1&1/2 DIN size opening.

If I have the right one I'll just send it to ya.

Re: Stereo wiring kits

I may be off on this one, but do you have a picture of a harness off a similar age Opel or Vauxhaul? I know they are GM family and may have the same setup as what came in your car. Could make things a bit easier to find.
