bass spike when turning on/off cd player?

Hey guys;
I had to remove my subs and amp the other day, and a few days later, when I got around to putting them back in, it has this annoying "feature".

When the cd player turns on, off, or bass settings are changed, I get a "BUMP" from the subs. A full strength one.

I know I must have mixed up some wiring here, as I remember having friends have this problem a long time ago, but I can't for the life of me remember what the issue is?

- Pioneer 1300 deck (3-4 years old?)
- Alpine 600W monoblock amp
- 2x 12" 8 ohm subs wired in parallel, for a 4 ohm load to the amp. Amp puts out 300W in this configuration.

When wires were disconnected to remove the amp, I pulled the fuse under the hood. Other then that, wires were just hanging.

Does anyone know what this problem represents?!? Thanks

Make sure your ground is no longer then 3ft first off.

Next that is common on "crappy" amps. Seeing as you have a nice alpine it shouldnt do that tho.

The noise you are hearing is your HU turning off before your amp does and the amp discharges its capacitors power which causes a "thump" like sound through the speakers. Pretty much the amp sees no power and draws from the very small built in capacitor and then it just shuts off.

The most common reason for this to happen is the remote turn on lead was not hooked up to the remote turn on from the HU. Or the RCA'a used were not of good quality.

Hope that points you in the right direction.
