If I had to guess from the pics, it looks as if somebody tied into those wires to power something else. Doesnt look factory to me. If there is one wire on one side of the clip, and two wires on the other, then Im positive its just a jumper wire put there by a previous owner...Unless of course you have owned it since new...

Those red clips are called scotch blocks, they have a little blade that cuts into one wire and allows you to splice in another. they are a guarantee for electrical gremlins.
Here you can see it before installing.
The original wire goes into the inner through and through hole, the other wire goes into the other hole which is blind on the other side and the blade cuts in both completing the circuit.
There are several styles of these, incliding one that looks like a C with a spade terminal at the end. Those come w/ MSD boxes.

exactly, they were someone elses handywork. Remove them and if the connection needs to be there for some reason (aftermarket item installed), solder & heat shrink the connections.

Nope connection dosent appear to be needed . although he did say something about having a draw on the system that him and Multiple dealers could not find!! so he installed a kill switch on the battery. maybe he jumped straight to negative around the kill switch so the clock would always be powered like intended.. How much power does a clock draw on these stereos??
