Monsoon Lights dont appear! AHH
So I recently swapped out my GTA head unit for one out of an 01 S10. Now it fit in nicely and looks good, plugged in fine except for the wheel control plug, which I expected.
Now, the button lights do not come on at all.
Any ideas are greatly appreciated!

You might be able to look up the wiring diagram for the S10 and find which one of the steering wheel controls gave power to the lights in the head unit.
My first guess would be that you would need to fabricate a power source into one of the ports on the wiring harness for the old steering wheel controls in order to get the lights to come on.
Good luck!

You think the steering wheel controls is the power source? Because the clock and the pwr light up.

Most likely there is a separate power source for the lights on the steering wheel. It doesn't make much sense, I know, but that's just GM for ya. Always cutting corners to save half a cent.

You know i'm talking about the buttons on the deck arent lighting up. I found a harness for the steering wheel controls, so you figure I have to pin my existing steering wheel control harness into this new one?

does the display dim when you turn the lights on, if it does and the keys do not light then the bulbs are blown

Re: Monsoon Lights dont appear! AHH
Ya, the display dims. I found the exact same deck at pick n pull today, so i'm going to exchange mine and try out the other one.
And i'm thinking, my GTA has 3 different plug ins, 2/3 plug in and I always assumed that the other one was for the wheel controls, but maybe it's the light bulb power source?
Because I did try an 93 Bonneville Cassette Deck before I picked up the CD Deck, and the lights didnt come on either, just the display.
I hope the bulbs are just burnt out.
Guess i'll find out tmrw.
Now I was looking at this adaptor
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...=STRK:MEWNX:IT
Because the clear looking adaptor looks like my wheel control harness would plug right into that?
Because a guy with an 89 RS used that on his deck.
