Alpine Type R VS Kicker CVX?

ok, so i got 2 kicker cvr at the moment and i really like them. unfortunately i didnt break them in like a normal human being i decided to turn the amp all the way up and blew them!. so im going to replace them this weekend. i was wondering if anyone had had the type r and if they like it better than the cvr? and should i get the cvx or the type r?

i listen to rap/hip hop mostly, would it be smart to go with one 15 instead of 2 12's... im looking for alot of low base?

for the money i can get,

2 cvr 12": $140
2 cvx 12" $250
2type r 12" $200
i dont know about 15" i didnt price them?

Go to Fi car audio.com You can buy a sub there in your price range and it will be much better than any kicker or alpine. A 15" isnt a bad idea if you're really attached to low bass but to me 2 12" should do fine while still getting higher notes good. For instance thought the Fi SSD is one of their lower lines ($179 for a 12) and it is said to beat the kicker L7 also the subs are made to order

not many people know about fi they are a great sub. You can also look into getting a single 12 and porting it to a lower FQ. IF it was me out of those 2 subs I would get the type r and port them. I have heard both subs in 10's and 12's to my ear the type R's sound cleaner and louder at higher volumes. Its all in the install though.

The hatchback will help with the bass. might look into re audio sex12d4 http://www.sonicelectronix.com/cat_m...ubwoofers.html
I would get more a sql/sq sub that sounds good at high volumes with out distorting as the hatchback can make alot of bass sound sloppy.

As far as you blowing the subs what amp are you using? Between those 2 subs you picked compaired to your cvr. there is a a big wattage difference

Re: Alpine Type R VS Kicker CVX?

Do You mean you have them wired in parallel or you do have your amp bridged? what subs are you runining actual model number? If only sub is blown You could always just get one CVR and save some money and turn your gain down and your bass down on your amp

I have a 12" type R in a custom sealed box being pushed by a V12 Mono amp. Most people cannot believe it is only one sub cause it rocks. Super clear at high volume in any car I have had it in. I have had a lot of different subs over the years and this one has been the cleanest. Put it in a ported box and get ready. I vote a type R.

yes i agree i had 2 type'r 10's in a custom ported box tuned a little higher for sql and i got so many compliments on that. set up. After that i went to a one sub set up for space and weight and, i will never go back to 2 subs.

The CVX is an amazing sub... I have a friend with 2 type r's. They are nice, but I am kicker all the way, I had 2 CVR's but I sold them and am looking to go with one CVX in the future.

Re: Alpine Type R VS Kicker CVX?

I've owned both the type r and cvx subs let me first say they are both great subs I have the type r's in my trans am now, with my experience with them I would have to say get 2 12" cvx, when paired with the right amp they produce incredible bass and get louder then the type r's any day of the week, don't get me wrong when the type r's are matched with the right amp they sound beautiful and would even say that they are clearer then the cvx in my opinion.... it kinda depends on how you like your music if u like really deep bass and subs that get really loud go with the cvx's if you like a little better quality but still good base go with the type r's but really u wouldn't be disappointed with either one since you are upgrading for cvrs..... hope this helps
