My stereo kicked me in the face.

My stereo kicked me in the face.
Okay, so I've got a 92 RS. All factory stereo in it so I decided I was gonna try to fix it up a lil. The only speaker that plays any music at all is the front left. So I went by walmart today and got some 6x9 xplodes for the back. Hooked them up and only the right rear worked. Tried wiggling the wires for the left rear and got nothing. Furthermore, the rear 6x9 that did work sounded like crap. This is with the factory tape deck and radio playing. Is it likely that my factory deck is junk? Are xplodes junk? I was just gonna rock the radio and the rears for now till i get enough for the fronts and a deck.... my stereo kicked me in the face today.... and it hurt. Any common problems and concerns I need to be aware of with these dudes?

Xplods aren't high end obviously but better then stock papercones. As for whether or not the deck is good you would just have to plug another one in and see if that was the problem.

Did you center the balance and the fade on the radio? Maybe the fade is set all the way to the front, and/or the balance is set all the way to the left.

Yeah I tried that. I dunno I checked the wires and they seem to have good continuity. The new speakers just sound real muffled, and not loud at all. The bass makes it crackle and its just a horrid sound. I dunno a lot about stereos, but is it possible the deck could be causing it? And could it also cause the left side to not work at all, cause I have good continuity there too.

You could also have a speaker somewhere that has decided to ground out somewhere and is destroying your sound quality

Nevermind I know your problem... replace your head unit and it should fix it stereos aren't supposed to last over 10 years and yours obviously made it 19 I can recommend a cheap 50 dollar stereo at Walmart... its a dual... looks cool works great and the best part... its cheeeeap
