speakers for factory stereo

I just bought a factory stereo with a MP3 input, and I'd like to upgrade my speakers.

I was looking at three different ones. I'm leaning toward the JBL speakers, but if there is anything about any of these that is better or worse, let me know.

I don't know a lot about speakers, but I have heard Pioneer and JBL are good options for replacing factory speakers

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...=ATVPDKIKX0DER

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...=ATVPDKIKX0DER

will the protrusion on the top side of the Pioneer speakers cause a problem with the sail panels?

will a depth of 3 inches or less on these speakers be ok in the sail panel placement on our cars?

Re: speakers for factory stereo

I've never had a pair of their car speakers, but I've bought their loudspeakers for stage environments. They have a great reputation

as long as there isnt a reason they wouldn't fit in my car, I think I'm going to pull the trigger on those

No amp for me. I like good sounding music, but it doesn't have to be loud

they are less than 3", and two different car audio websites say they work on our cars, so I decided to give them a shot. the nice thing about amazon is I can return them without grief if I want to

I put the Pioneers in my car and they fit fine. Can't tell you how they sound cause I still have other radio issues I'm working on.

I'd have to give the nod to JBL over Pioneer and I'm a fan of both.

Save a few bucks and go with the 2-way version. You won't hear a difference and the bigger tweeter will perform better.

Re: speakers for factory stereo

you know, I didn't see that one, and you're right.

I cancelled my original order and placed the order for this one
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...=ATVPDKIKX0DER

I'd rather spend a couple extra bucks to get it from amazon. I'm a prime member, so I get two day shipping for free. I also like their return policy

That's what I want, a good sounding that I can hear. Not blast my music and force it upon. The world.

Re: speakers for factory stereo

amps are not for just loud. the only thing i was wondering is how much the head unit will push out. i see they are 100watt rms so you should be ok as long as you dont want to turn it up loud. i suppose you are like me you want it at a good level for clear sound more than jammin it.

Is that an easy thing to do, or is there a specific part you buy to be able to mate the original stereo and the new ipod conection up?

Re: speakers for factory stereo

If you want them to sound even better, get an amp for them.

(Good) External amplifiers, when used for their purpose, will only improve the sound of the speakers, but not necessarily make the system play any louder. A (good) external amp has greater control over the speaker's movement and will help improve both low frequency and high frequency reproduction, while having more dynamic headroom.

Re: speakers for factory stereo

Why do people put a hole in the stereo for a jack?
Why it put one of these in the car and keep your car stock?
