Delco Loc VS Delco Loc Radios
Pic 1, these radios look alike don't they? They are indeed different. The one on the left is 1989-1991 Pontiac, Oldsmobile and a few others. Model # 16088422
The one on the right is for 1986-1989 Pontiac 6000's and 88-89 GTA's and 1988 Bonnevilles. Model 16062322.
I'll start with the one on the right since it was the first release.
It communicates on a data bus to the steering wheel controls and it requires that the mute button be held in after battery disconnect or radio disconnect to unlock it.
These radios are NOT interchangable.

Re: Delco Loc VS Delco Loc Radios
Back to the discription,
The one on the left requires being connected to the E&C bus with a translation module. Available on 1989-1991 certain GM vehicles only. It will automatically unlock when connection to the bus is made and battery power is present. Will not unlock without the proper E&C bus.
I was lucky enough to find a complete steering column from a 1989 Oldsmobile 98.
I am posting this to help those of you seeking a replacement radio for your GTA's.
Look at the top of the radio to see the difference in case the model number is missing. If you can verify the model number of the CDM module, it must be 16062130. I have included the wiring diagram.

Somebody I recently spoke to about this type of radio insisted that the type of case on the radio determined what kind of radio it is / what car it was pulled from. I tried to explain that this was not true and the type of Receiver on the radio could not tell anyone what the radio was pulled from. He insisted that this was true and told me of countless posts on this site that described this as fact.
The picture below shows 2 Bonneville radios.
The one on the left is from a 91 Bonneville (WITH steering wheel control, NOT GTA) & has a part number of 16123342.
The one on the right is from a 92 Bonneville (WITH steering wheel control, NOT GTA) & has a part number of 16157771.
Just want to correct the fallacy that the Trans Am / GTA SWC radio can be determined by looking at the type of Receiver that screwed to the top of it.

Re: Delco Loc VS Delco Loc Radios
Figured it was worth posting this here to add some info:
Radio pictured below is from an 89 Bonneville; Part number = 16066762
* EDIT: 1990 Bonneville / Turbo Grand Prix radio part number = 16088422 : SWC Delco LOC radio

I cannot red the diagram. The resolution is not large enough to read clearly when enlarged.

Re: Delco Loc VS Delco Loc Radios
The diagram covers the 91 Pontiac radio; NOT the Thirdgen GTA style radio. So; unless you've got a 91 Pontiac Grand Prix / Bonneville radio,... the diagram is no use to you.
Edit: Here is the 88 Pontiac Firebird GTA radio wiring schematic:
